Or they could do what Xbox Live does, allowing the player to only change their username once. After that a small fee will have to be paid in order to change the player's name again (i.e $5, $10, etc.).

they need to make it so you can change your name once and you should keep your id and such so you stay an op and stay banned on servers and stuff.

I made my username years ago (massivepony) now every person i meet in minez is calling me a brony and its a pain im my ass when im recording. i want to be able to change my username and hopefully i can soon. youtube user name (chillingallday)

Yeah. I have to agree, But how about you can change you're username every 3 months for $10 or $15. That would be cool.... Right?

I think its a poor decision to be able to change your name. After all there is a huge list some where on the internet of all the Troll/Griefing Turds that like to jump servers and just, well Troll.... If they are alowed to change their name they should at least make it link to their previous name to where if they join it will recognize them.

Well yea but if a admin wanted to ban them they could just ban their IP instead of their username, so even if they pay to change it to try and join the server... they would still be banned...I don't really think it would be that hard to get use too.

I dont think having a user change would be too bad, but yes, that by itself would cause a severe torrent of griefing. The problem with IP ban is it applies not just to your account, but you entire wi-fi network, so if you have a brother/sister who likes that minecraft server as well, they can't join, as well as if you Get IP banned, you can continue to get on that server from a friends house. I personally believe that they should have a user change on the MC .net and have your entire account connected to your password, which would allow your password to be banned, therefore banning your entire account.

If you've ever been on steam, then you have an account name and a display name. When you ban someone, you ban them via their account name, which would still be visible to opps. Also, if you migrate to a mojang account, you log in with your email, so that becomes your account name, therefore eliminating your original name! Notch and I are geniuses.

No. Because then it's like buysing another account anyway. Free or I'm not doing it.

If they allowed you to change your name, you'd get un banned from servers unless your IP is banned on that server. I own a server and have tested this.

i want this too, getting bored of 'supersonic50', wanna change it to 'Eclipse_the_dragonoid'
