Cheap Minecraft-Compatible Laptop
Hey guys, I'm looking for a good laptop for Christmas. I'm in junior high, so I don't need anything serious. My base requirements are:
1. It can load and play Minecraft fairly well (50+ fps with or without Optifine)
2. It is $150 - $225 or less. (The cheaper the better)
I don't know if that's possible, but yeah, that's about it . But seriously, the cheapest case of components that can let me test my redstone without major lag. I prefer Windows, probably W7, but if I can somehow get W8 with that budget I'd love it. Thanks in advance, guys!

You cant normally find one like that, you have to build one.

Wait until CyberMonday! You might see some good deals online.

On Black Friday, cheap laptops are a dime a dozen (and most of them are REALLY slow.) You have to really know what you are doing to score a good laptop.

Hey, it's black friday! Where stuff may be cheaper. Good luck.

As far as I know, it's only Black Friday in the U.S, because of your thanksgiving. I know Canada just barely has it, and only the sales, because we celebrate Thanksgiving in October, but if he lives in Canada or Australia or something he might be out of luck.

Black Friday is used by Retailers and Etailers to determine their success for the year.
Profit wise, being "in the black" is good and being "in the red" is bad. Therefore the name is Black Friday

@OP I know this is unrelated but I have to prove this CAN work. My best friend had a HORRIBLE laptop that had tons of viruses and stuff. They gave it to me and my dad and we wiped it, fixed it, overclocked it, installed some things to make other games run, and installed Crysis Wars, Call Of Duty MW2 (FourDeltaOne), Crysis 2, Minecraft, Call Of Duty MW3 (TechnoGods) and it worked! A horrible laptop can do a lot of things if you make it XD
(Does anyone remember Four Delta One and TechnoGods? XD)

You don't have to get a fancy case either, You could just get a cardboard box with a power button.

That's what I was thinking. Would a lightswitch connected to the power supply suffice?

P.S. My emoticons are necessary, just don't get a seizure from their awesomeness

You wont get 50+ fps with that budget. Also laptops are terrible unless you spend $1000 the most fps you will get is like 20. I recommend you build a pc ($300) to get 60+ fps.
Building a pc is easy.
Anyways heres a $400 pc build.

Thanks, I might shovel driveways or something to get up to that price. Also this is sorta random, (and probably extremely noobish) but I noticed the case you suggested is $35 at the very least. Why are cases so necessary and

If you've ever seen a computer, you're most likely looking at it's case, and it's not a magical machine. In the picture I_Heart_Notch showed, that shows the inside of a computer, and that would be covered by the case. Most of the computer parts are attatched to the inside of the case, so they won't be stepped on or anything.

Ok, thanks guys! I saw a couple Toshibas on Amazon in my range, and it looks like they're running W8. Can/do they?

I really don't know, you can't really get anything for that price. If a desktop isn't a problem, my only suggestion is to build a $250-$300 computer from components and it MIGHT get to your wanted speeds. I can't really help you, I'm unaware of any laptops that can get about 50FPS in that budget. lol sorry

Since this is nearly impossible I would go with toshiba, I can't find another laptop manufacturer that has a PC under $300
