For the last few months The Autumn Glen has been my primary project, and I'd like to share the development as continue with the project. The game is currently slated for a late-spring to mid-summer release.
Like my previous game, Untitled, this game will be a linear narrative.
If you'd like to share your opinion/Ideas please be polite.

I know it's been a few weeks, but just to share my development I've updated the screenshots, forum signature, added various early gameplay snippets, and a concept teaser trailer.

Type 1 are supposed to be pine trees, right? Well, pine trees don't lose chlorophyll unless they die... so I think I'd go with Type 3.

Holy sheep of the wooliest potato of PMC.

The Application
Name/Ign: Drew; Stormversion2
Favorite games/genre: I love post apocalyptic games and open worlds. I also love surviving! Sorry for the short answer.
Why do you want to play/test?: I've known about this project since you first posted it on pmc and been following it ever since. This game has something, it's not like the other crappy ones trying to copy another. You've put time and effort into it, and it looks great, so I'd like to test it and make it better.
Means of contacting you: You can contact me via Skype or Email. It's up to you really. I'd also be fine with registering with any group chat type thing if needed.
Would you like credit?: Personally it doesn't matter to me. If you plan on giving the testers credit then sure, but if you don't then it doesn't bother me.
Anything else: Thanks for reading, and good luck with the the future progression with the game.

Play Testers
For those interested because of how early the game is in production I will not be publicly doing testing yet... But in these early stages of development I'd like to know specifically who's testing the game and what their opinions on it are. That being said I have an application that can be filled out if you are interested. Please note you will receive credit if wanted.
So without further adieu the application!
This can be posted on the forum or private messaged to me.

I say I should have a playable alpha build in the next week or so.
As for the story you can send me ideas or lines, and if I do choose to add it into the final game I will give credit where due.

So as I start development of the story I have a few questions to ask anyone interested.
1.) Do you feel the game should have voice acting?
2.) Do you think the trees should have wind sway?
3.) Do you think the game could benefit from dynamic depth of field?
4.) Do you think head bob should should be optional?

1: Yes, it gives me more of a connection to the game.
2: Yes, but don't over do it Make it kind of subtle
3: Not too sure of this one, if you are going to go ahead and bring it into the game, maybe make an option to disable it or something of the sort.
4: Yes, gives it more of a life-like feel.

1.) Yes. It's not entirely necessary, but it would really add the the game, with like, a wind rushing through leaves sound, it could sound really nice.
2.) It depends on weather it looks weird or not.
3.) Don't really know.
4.) Yes.

1- Yes, maybe have a narrorator telling you how you got here.
2- Maybe, it might cause lag/its not super related to the style.
3- I personally say no, but it should be a disablable (able to disable, lol) option.
4- Yes

Comment your opinion on this leaf pile test if you like or dislike it.

I actually really like these piles! If there is a wind current or something, maybe have leaves blow occasionally or have them shift in a sense!
1
They are set up to interact with wind if I choose to put it in, which i'm currently working on finding an effective and convincing way of adding it.
1
I liked your previous game. I'd like to see how this one turns out as well, Good luck
1
When you read the node have it so it slides the note bigger and then you can stroll down it rather than display some overlaying text, that may be pretty nice.
1
Or I could have it so you can both move and scale it while also having the ability to display the text if I lets say have a note with cursive and you having a hard time reading.

Type 3!

They're not affected at all, I experimented with it, but with the low poly style it felt very "unnatural".

Ooh, interesting o:

I really like the third type of tree
'TIS SO VERY AUTUMNY
XD but for real this looks really fun

Looks awesome so far! What engine did you use (if none - what tutorials did you watch to get started?) and what type of game will it be
1
Its unity.
1
Yes I use Unity, and if your looking for some tutorials I recommend checking your engine of choices website, Unity, Unreal, and CryEngine all have great communities to learn how to use them.

I'm no expert on design but id have to vote number 2. Mostly because a lot of trees shaped like a pine don't change color or lose leaves.
1
[deleted]
1
Yep... I ignorantly colored them the same colors as the other trees.
I've since then fixed them...

You have a good eye, I've since then fixed that mistake.

Type 1, and the game looks great. Can't wait to try it out.

Oh I will be, but I'll be modeling new trees so it isn't such a radical change.
1
Hello! I personally would say The first picture suits this game since its more autumn styled. Tbh I would have both trees in my game but less of the second
1
Looks awesome, Would like to hear what the story will be
How you planing this game to be,
Like.
Will it be people in the game?
online?
Any monsters?
Whats the reason you got stuck in the forest?
But I really love the style and how it looks right now
I hope you will add quest and small side quest that make it more fun to do. not just one story.
Cant wait to see following updates. *bookmarked*

Will it be people in the game? Yes, but I haven't planned how to approach creating emotional character with the low poly art style.
online? No, specifically because it is a narrative.
Any monsters? Potentially, but not anything that will dynamically chase you just for the sake of chasing.
Whats the reason you got stuck in the forest? As of right now I intended to base the story off Ray Bradbury's short story "Jack-In-The-Box", as it take place in a forest, but that's not set in stone yet.
