Fire Nation Flagship [Build Log]

The Fire Nation is a new addition to my existing lore for my projects. The idea of the Fire Nation is that of an ex-neutral faction which is now expanding its military due to being under pressure by the existing factions' interests and conquests (the mages, the steam empire, the union and smaller groups)



To get an idea of the current progress on the ships connected to the lore: The steampunk battleship and the mavlkov are part of the steam empire army.

Valkyrie, Asgard and Aurora are part of the mages' army (though aurora is very early while valkyrie is very recent in the timeline)

The Redeemer is part is part of the union.

Smaller groups don't have a representing project on my PMC yet.



I'm planning on building the Fire Nation's flagship in the same way I built the Valkyrie. A build log! Yay.

My idea of the flagship for the Fire Nation is that of an aggressive looking, rather flat ship which is engulfed in a protective shield of flames. It will feature steampunk elements to some degree and it will use the pipework I worked out for the Redeemer already. Also : Fire effects EVERYWHERE!

But calm down. We're still in a very early stage it this point.

To make the layout of the flagship, I first drew the outline:


Shaping the body and closing the gaps then gave me this:

I know, I know - blue isn't the first color you would connect to the nation of fire. It's just a placeholder.

I decided to use flat, curvy engines to keep the ship's style.


Making a superstructure-layout for a ship like this is really difficult. While its massive size and the fact it is a capital ship would lead to an advanced superstructure with lots of parts, the streamlined body of the ship would look off with a huge bridge.
Therefor, I added 4 of the hardpoints first and went from there.

The armor plates were a nice touch, but I ended up removing them temporarily. They will make it back at a later point of the build in a slightly edited shape.

Then, adding the bridge became inevitable for the progress of the build. So I got myself some hours of trying and ended up with this:


I didn't want to use the main weapons from the frigate project (still unreleased) and therefor went on my flatmap to rework it. This isn't really perfect now as I think it's a bit too blocky for the rest of the ship but I like it so far.


Then, I sticked them ontop of the hardpoints.


This is how the build looks right now. As soon as something noteworthy is added, I will leave a post here with a render showing the changes made.

The build uses my own texture pack which is an edited version of the Creative Node Official Texture Pack by Creative Node. The current owner of the Server, Community and therefor also the Texture Pack (TheShadyJester) gave me full permission to edit and upload this texture pack whenever I like. It will be part of the project's download link once the finished version of it makes its way to PMC.

I appreciate all kinds of feedback and opinions as well as suggestions as I build this project. Everything useful that will end up changing the build will be added to credits of the project.

It was obvious we needed more guns. A lot of more guns. Not just at some places but all over the ship. That's why i decided to cut the ship apart, raise the upper section.

The outcome? Well... BEHOLD!

More detailing to make the ship more interesting and give it back some of the style lost in along the way.

Also, interior work!

This is gonna be the cantina. It's gonna be connected to the crew quarters and the medical bay (more pics of that soon) and is placed right underneath the bridge.

Okay so I didn't really like how the entire build turned out. Major changes are gonna happen to it in the next few weeks, seriously altering it's appearance.

I started building around the belly of the ship, too. More weapons and AA is in place. now some more pipework, detailing and then we'll move to the interior.

More detailing around the engines. Pretty much done here.

Also started the engine room as the first part of the interior.
This has some white blocks because of the lore.
The energy crystals (ender crystals) are holy objects for the faction.

First, I added more engines and reworked the rear end a little bit.

Then I moved back to the front part (where I am currently stuck)
Added some darker sections so it doesnt look all the same
Reworked the side armor to allow more smaller guns facing left and right
Also started working on the belly where there are 2 hardpoints at the moment.

Then I filled up the front part of the ship.

A lot of hard-to-spot changes happened. The one block tall turrents are finally on their respective hardpoints (the yellow hazard striped blocks are placeholders until 1.9 introduces end rods to make their barrels)
Hardpoints have been recolored to red stained clay
Greeble ontop of the bridge's roof.
Shield projector added
Pipes on the back are slightly edited.

Phew. 9 hours worth of progress: The ship is now completely armored. The engines have received serious protection, too and the rear exhaust system seems to work.
