GameGlass - So, what now?
Many of you may remember this: http://pmc.la/i8uv4
If not, go read the first post.
Many of you have been asking me about what has happened to the project. As the forums are down and so is the wiki (after a huge spam attack) I have been busy working on hardware and software, and have created a much better 'Mark Two' prototype. It's better built, actually stays on your head surprisingly well and is lighter. So here, take some nice pictures taken from a pool table.
Later, I will do some MORE videos of the GameGlass Mark Two streaming some intense games like CS:GO, and some less intense games like Euro Truck Simulator 2. If you haven't seen already, there are 2 videos of TF2 and Minecraft being streamed on the original prototype.

The highest cost is the display, which applies to just about everything every with a screen in it. But yeah, maybe an ultra budget Zero model?
1
When is this going to need beta testers because I am SOOOOOO down
1
Soon™. However, if you can build the headset yourself, I can get you a beta tester position now.
I'm silently working behind the scenes, and I do check this post every day, I just don't really have much to say. Same old, same old really.

I'm wondering that also but OP is inactive.

Lack of life from me. I'm busy with lots of stuff atm :/

Oh ok.
1
Can't wait.

Wow! Does this cause headaches? I'm not entirely sure if I should get it, I'm not a big fan of having a screen stuck in front of my face.
Also, if I get this right, you don't have to hook it up to a PC or anything else?

It doesn't give me headaches after prolonged usage (you shouldn't spend more than 15 minute gaming blocks with a 3DS or any other games machine but who the hell reads the photosensitive epilepsy warnings?) and I'm really sensitive to that kinda thing. It IS a standalone PC, because it has onboard processing and graphics, etc.

So, you need to bring a mouse with you everywhere you go, but other than that It's a portable PC?
1
Or a controller, wired or wireless. Same with KB+M
1
When you pre-order you get a free KB+M or Xbox Controller.
1
If controllers are gonna be used, a DualShock 4 is more likely as they use Bluetooth and don't need extra adapters. However, any wired controller or KB+M should work out of the box and if it has a wireless reciever you can plug it in and make it wireless as the GameGlass will have 2 free USB ports.

Hoping for under £200, likely £130 or your regional equivalent
1
Thats 200 dollars US!!! I really don't mind the price tag if theres gonna be a lot of cool features.
1
It's cheaper than all the current gen consoles and a gaming PC. It's also not final - prices may fall.

Bump
1
Just curious, what's the purpose of the headset, other than, you know, putting a see through screen right in front of your face? What are its advantages to just playing games normally?
1
It's portable, so you can play your PC games anywhere, and I am adding accererometers and gyroscopes later to add another layer to the games, so control it over head movement. That, or kinect like motion control.

bump via gameglasses

WOW. you are a genius.
I wish I had motivation to create right now. (My Halloween costume is going nowhere fast)

It's just the Minecraft Pi edition from Mojang. If you want the full PC minecraft you can stream it.

If you mean if hes still making it yes. A linux based os or python(i forget).
1
Is this motion tracking? meaning if you look to the left, in the game it moves left? (Basically like the Oculus Rift)
1
Yes, I am hoping to add a gyroscope/accelerometer
It is still an active project, based on the Raspian Jessie (Debian Linux) OS.
No need to make one, it already exists.
projex475is this still going? what os would it be based on? I could make games for this alone if I knew the os

WOOT WOOT! The GameGlass is now totally wireless! I have aquired a 200mAh battery at 5v 2.1A which is light and can be recharged. This means the GameGlass is now completely remote and wireless! The charging port will be at the rear of the device.
1
What's the new screen resolution?
1
800*480. It's no longer hdmi so it's lighter and less power hungry buy also delivers graphics on par to hdmi
1
WOO MKIII!
Sorry for the wait. Blems happened. Pro-blems. Like remaking the entire UI to fit a new screen resolution and issues with Moonlight streaming, and running out of glue
Here are some pics!
What's new?
- New low power draw display
- totally removable visor
- New visor design
- Totally new frame and more comfortable headrest
Still to come:
- Power supply (next update)
- Bluetooth and WiFi (next update)
Someone is editing a video of the MKIII right now. It is the headste playing Just Cause 2 with the new Steam UI.

Mind posting some well blueprints on how the headrest and screen placement is setup? i might be able to prototype and help you improve your design?
1
Not sure what you mean by blueprints but PM me for the 3D model files.
