Gaming PC or PS4?
Soooo, with my birthday coming up soon, I am struggling to make a hard decision:
A Playstation 4:
I love console gaming, and the PS4 is so easy to use and has many great games.
A Decent Computer for gaming:
Now, I'm not so much a fan of PC gaming, especially when it comes down to FPS games, but I know that with a custom PC, you can get way better gameplay than any console.
Somebody help me out! What should I get??????????????

I see a few problems with this build.
The motherboard only has two memory slots, both of which are occupied by 4 GB sticks. That means that if the OP wants to upgrade his RAM in the future, he'll need to throw out one or both sticks to make room.
The i5 was a good call, but the extra price for the CPU caused you to need to use an 8-series chipset motherboard. Broadwell CPUs are around the corner, and when they release the OP won't have the option to upgrade to one.
It's a gaming build so 8gbs of RAM will be fine for quite a while. By the time that more than 8gbs becomes a necessity OP would want a new CPU/mobo anyway. The upgrade from a Haswell i5 to a Broadwell i5 wouldn't really be worth it.

Well, this is assuming OP is coming straight from console gaming, so he will not want to upgrade, just like you don't with a console. If and when OP feels comfortable, he can upgrade. But with those specs, he won't have to upgrade for a good couple years, and by then to get the new stuff, all of us will need new hardware.
From my perspective, when I switched from console gaming to PC gaming, all I wanted was good parts and lots of upgradability.
Maybe that's just me hating being locked down in terms of upgrade choices. *shrug*
No, I completely agree. But you most likely researched about it, and all. Most console gamers don't care. They just want to play. And if it comes with good graphics/frames then that's a plus to them.
1
I would say Xbox One or Wii U, but if i were to recommend between these, get the PC. You WILL regret getting the Playstation 4. There are no games for it. For pc you have Minecraft, Steam, and the internet. Get ANYTHING but the PS4. Heed my warning.
Don't be fooled by the PS Fanboys. And if you do get a pc, please please PLEASE PLEASE don't become one of those PEECEE MASTAR RAEC idiots.

a ps4, im loving mine, but pc's are 1000x better if you have a beast one and steam sales ofc
1
Well, it really depends on what you want to play. On PC, you get a lot of indie games and other games not on consoles, and it is better for FPS games, as a mouse allows for more precise movements. If you want to play racing games, rpg games, or something of the sort, the PS4 may be what you want.
Edit: Steam sales make it worth it. Go with PC.

What you could actually do is build a PC and use a Playstation or XBox controller with some games
1
Yeah, and Steam is releasing their controller soon(?), so if you use Steam, you can use the controller.
Just don't use Origin

i would go with a PC. and here is y. i built a good gaming PC for about 450 dollars. that is running AMD processor and 8 GB ram and for about 50$ more it could run on 16GB of ram. but anyway its not all about the price. you want a good experience too. but on a PC you can play PC games but also games from different systems with the use of a emulator and there are a lot more games for PC than a console system so take the amount of games into account and then think which system you are getting more out of. So yah PC all the way. OH and its also hard to become obsolete with a PC you dont have to buy the ps3 then ps4 then ps5 etc etc etc.
1
While you raise a fair point, you also have to upgrade every once in a while, instead of buying a $400 system. Just remember you do have to upgrade

Honestly depends are you playing other games besides minecraft they require good graphic cards? like honestly it depends on what you play more often. If you are just playing minecraft maybe just get a better graphics card BUT they are not cheap at all I have a GTX 770 SC I needed a whole new Power Supply due to this it all depends on what you use your computer for.
1
Depends.
I'm a huge fan of both the Play Stations and PC's. If your looking for games like Watch_Dogs, go for PC for graphics, although PS4 has lots of lovely little features like a touch pad and exclusive games.
I voted PS4.

I went with Windows 8 instead of 8.1 because it was cheaper, and you can upgrade to 8.1 for free through the Microsoft Store app thing.

Thanks so much man! I think this will be the exact build I get when I do get my computer.

PC, when you're bored of gaming a console is useless.
1
PS4 it has many games only on it a better controller and since you have posted this you already have a computer so yeah PS4.

The best option is to build your own. If you are willing to build your own, fill this out.
What is this computer going to be used for?
List what you will be doing with your computer.
What is your budget?
Include amount and currency.
Where do you live? If in the US, do you have a nearby Microcenter?
Your country lets us know what sites you can order from. If you have a nearby Microcenter they have some great in-store only deals that you can take advantage of.
What is included in the budget?
Things like the tower, the OS, peripherals and monitors.
Will you be overclocking?
Overclocking will require different hardware than a non-overclocking build so we need to know this.
Will you be reusing any parts?
If you are reusing parts list them here.
What OS do you want?
Say which OS you want or say if you already have a copy of one.
Any specific case preferences?
Size, color, etc.
Any other special features that you want in the build?
Stuff like an SSD, large hard drive, RAID, and wifi
Other than that, probably the best website to go to is either http://www.ibuypower.com/ or http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/

Thanks everyone for participating in the poll, and thanks to the people who replied. I have one last question:
What would you guys say is the best computer website?
What would you guys say is the best computer website?

I just built my own PC, I bought all of the parts from NewEgg, and I even accidentally purchased the wrong Power supply(I bought a 430W rather then the needed 600W), in which I then contacted customer support, and I had a UPS slip to send it off to get the replacement in around 5 minutes. I'd definitely recommend them for buying PC parts.
1
If you could get a decent gaming PC, it would run games a lot better than PS4 and you could essentially get more games. If you can't get a decent gaming PC, then I would go PS4. A really great system, I have one myself.
1
Thanks for the advice, I see your point.
1
That is a hard decision. I think I would go for the PC though.
Keep in mind PS4 is the best console out right now, hands down. That isn't my opinion, it is actually a fact.

I think he means the PS4 is more powerful.

I agree that the PS4 is the best console out there, and that is why I'm comparing it to a PC.
