How to make a Can Break list?
In minecraft 1.8 you can make certain tools ONLY able to harvest certain blocks. How do I summon one in?

I definitely need to start checking out 1.8 features, The tool settings could make epic mazes,

Yup , but be aware that CanDestroy only affacts players in adventure mode (in 1.8, adventure mode doesn't allow you to place or break any normal blocks. That is what CanDestroy and CanPlaceOn are for)

/give @a diamond_shovel 1 0 {CanDestry:[carpet]}
You need to add in the damage value

Thanks! It worked!

this isn't working either: /give @a diamond_shovel 1 {CanDestroy:["carpet"]}
OR
/give @a diamond_shovel 1 {CanDestroy:"carpet"}
OR EVEN
/give @a diamond_shovel 1 {CanDestry:[carpet]}
OR
/give @a diamond_shovel 1 {CanDestroy:"carpet"}
OR EVEN
/give @a diamond_shovel 1 {CanDestry:[carpet]}

HaydenjamesParka SteveHaydenjamesThis command isn't working:
/give @a diamond_shovel 1 {CanDestroy[minecraft]}
Don't put minecraft:carpet, just carpet or the block ID.
still not working:
/give @a diamond_shovel 1 {CanDestroy[carpet]}
OR
/give @a diamond_shovel 1 {CanDestroy"carpet"}
You're missing a colon after CanDestroy in both of those, in the first you are missing quotes, in the second you are missing square brackets around your list of blocks.
