Run the game once on your wifi and occasionally afterwards to download updates. To ensure you aren't using data, make sure you are up to date, then turn off mobile data in your phones settings. You should then be able to launch the game and play single player without a problem.

to use your data you go in settings then profile then press the use celular data slider.

I think you misunderstand me. I refuse to use data, google play states Minecraft pocket is an offline game. I am trying to connect and demand my offline play but clearly there is DRM. My siblings can play offline but that is because they didnt perchase from the store.
