Longer wait for server bumps
(Repost from ~ a year ago)
I have a quite simple suggestion. Servers should be able to bump once every 72 hours, rather than once every 24 hours
Justification
Currently, the server market is very saturated. According to MCStats, there are 125,000 servers, and 500,000 active players at peak times. This means that on average, once server will get 4 players, which shows just how many servers are out there.
PMC, a few years ago, was a great place for new servers to get a start, due to PMC showing the recently updated servers by default. With the addition of the bump, it allowed even more exposure to servers, as they could be on that list every day. However, this just isn't enough time any more. Servers are being sent to the second page in about 10 minutes, which doesn't give much exposure to them. If it were set to 3 days, or 72 hours, it would give them, theoretically, 30-60 minutes of being on that first page.
Cons
There aren't any downsides to this as far as I can tell. It's a quite easy change, server owners will, in the end, get more exposure, and variety will be kept the same to the end user.

Bump

I dont know I mean wouldnt it be same because everyone will bump at same time as they were bumping in 24h but insted they would wait 72h to bump insted of 24h and then all is same again. Same crowded server list for the day those people bumped.

If it's raised to 72 hours, people would bump at different times. For example, let's say everyone wants to bump at 4:00. Well, it'd work out to where it'd be able to be spread out between 3 days, instead of all at once, meaning it should even out as time goes on and people find a good time to bump.
Yes, however it's still a problem. It's much better to get 10-20 people every three days rather than 3-4 people every day
That's irrelevant. PMC bumping isn't and never will be an alternative to paid advertising, but that doesn't mean we can't make it better. Also, most people don't have a couple hundred of dollars to spend on advertising, and even with that much you wouldn't have near enough to get a decent playerbase from scratch.
thenubslayer2000To bump your server, you have to pick a good time. I do it at 4Pm. Despite it not being PMC peak, it gets me more player than bumping later

HiztreeOwning a server is like owning a company. You need to work harder to compete with others, so you may just need to spend some cash on advertisement. May not be ideal for small servers, but if you want to play with top servers; you have too.

Can you please tell the staff an amazing idea!

I support this idea.

I agree and disagree

You could... elaborate a bit.

[Offical Stamp] I Agree. *Starts Protest*

I agree to this.

I really think that you should take this up with the staff, and really try to get this to happen.
It's a great idea.

Good Idea. #blameparil heheh

I think this will just cause massive amounts of traffic during the times when people can bump their servers again. I think it is a good idea though.

This would act like the current system where owners can only bump once every 24 hours, however it'd be 72+ hours instead.
It's way too easy to fake player counts, a solid limit across the board is a much simpler and, likely effective idea.
MGB_I could see quite good things happening from this.
Might be a bit of a meh idea but possibly... the more players/average players, the longer they have to wait, perhaps? Like, the players with 5 players on it a day might only have to wait 48 hours, while the ones with 1000+ player a day coming through might have to wait 72+?

Eh, would that really be an issue? I don't think he means that every 72 hours it would reset for everybody. I think he was saying 72 hours from their last bump. Due to differing timezones/schedules people have, that would spread it out nicely.

MGB goto bed lol. Good idea.

True. I stand corrected!

I support this, When I look at the server list now, I see servers with 0-5 people on it (Average)
I think this is a fantastic idea and hope PMC puts this in effect.
