I'm trying to start up a modded server, obviously such a thing is cutting-edge risky with the lack of reliable permissions and other features that plugins easily pump out.
So, other than risking the use of Thermos, what are my options with making a modded server? Having additions like NPCs, permissions, and the general things you might want in a Spigot environment are my aim here, but aren't required, and Thermos seems pretty unstable for that kind of stuff.
Is this a useless venture?

I wouldn't say dumb, but considering the purpose of Sponge is to do exactly what you seem to be looking for (it is able to combine plugins and mods as I recall) - your best course is to figure it out.

Yeah but in the past I've had strange glitches with Sponge not 'working' right, so to say.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have to use the Plugins provided on Sponge's website, correct?

Bump.. Anyone with experience with this? I just need a couple of utility mods that are stable. (Haven't seen any myself) or a jar worthwhile to use. Sponge doesn't seem right for this unless I'm just dumb
