If you just want for you and your friends, I would suggest a server at https://ggservers.net/minecrafthosting.html they aren't the best host out there however, a 6 person slot is only 1.50$ a month, which nearly anyone can afford, 2.50$ for mysql with your host, hit me ujp at Bellator78 as my skype if you wish to know how to home host it, and just have it up while your on, or if you wish for any plugin help related to it, I will walk you through it so you know how to do it in the future, hope that helps! and that server is dirt cheap for a "For friends" server
