Anyway, the brand DOES NOT matter, it's the specs that matter. Any given Dell laptop won't perform better than an HP laptop with the same specs. If you've been using Windows for a long time and have a lot of programs that you use, I wouldn't recommend getting a Mac. I have a crappy HP all-in-one desktop with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz processor, 4 gigs of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS, and on average I get 100fps or more in Minecraft. For a relatively future-proof, fast laptop, I'd recommend:
Operating system: Windows 7 64-Bit. Windows 8 is a pain in the ass to use, I've experienced it first hand. Go with 7, you'll thank me. As for the 64-bit part, you can't use more than 4 gigs of RAM unless you have a 64-bit OS.
Processor: 2-4 cores, at least 2GHz but preferably around 3
RAM: 4 to 8 gigs, I'd go with 6-8 so you can dedicate extra to Minecraft if you want
Graphics card: Specs are too confusing here, so I'd just go with something that's at least $100...
Hard drive: If you aren't abusive with your hard drive (I know I am ) I'd go with an SSD, maybe 320 gigs.
Anyway, do some searching and find the right laptop for you. Remember, it's not the Alienware sticker that matters, it's what's inside the computer. Hope I helped

Well my specs are windows 8 hp beats audio. but honestly with MC i wouldnt use windows 8 because its a pain with everything being an "app" but thats just my personal opinion. It runs with little to no lag, very rarely will it crash so hp is my vote.

I would have to recommend A Dell Alien Ware gaming laptop, not to big in size, but what size it lacks, it makes up for in Memory/ capacity etc.

If it's for school, go laptop. If you want power, Macbooks are high priced, but HELLA good. Just because it doesn't say 'FOR GAMING' on it, you TRY and find a game a Macbook Pro won't handle.

I would actually highly suggest a desktop. Much, much more power.
Around the same price range of most laptops.
I run minecraft at around 150+ FPS, Chivialry, and League of Legends around the same. On max settings. Though I paid around 1000 bucks for my computer (same as most decent laptops today) it was very worth it for gaming.

Daryoush2000It all depends on what you will use it for. If you're going to mainly use it for games I recommend Alienware.
Don't buy Alienware. You can buy a computer with the same specs for $500 less. Dell knows that Alienware has been branded as "a gaming computer". Just because it says "gaming computer" on the label doesn't mean it'll be good for gaming at all.
For example, I need a new laptop for both gaming and for college. My mom immediately started looking at Alienware laptops starting at $2000. I was able to find a $1500 ASUS with nearly the same specs and a better graphics card and more RAM.

Macbook Airs, ( Like most apple products) Are Over priced ( ) and the Air isn't meant for gaming. I don't know where you heard it can't get viruses, but that's definitely not true. It really depends how cautious you are in the internet.

I don't know about the school name thing, but the can't get viruses is a lie. Apple products can get viruses just like Microsoft products. The difference is virus coders don't want to waist their time with Apple, because of the number of people. The viruses are there just in fewer places.
Anyways, I suggest a Dell. I personally don't have a Dell, but my friend has one, and it seems to work very well. You can run multiple programs at once.

I use my Dell Inspiron, Core I5, It runs minecraft well, for me (With optifine) Around 50 FPS... If you want to have flawless FPS, (In other words, around 100) I would go with a desktop because they have raw power... If you want portable gaming, I would suggest going for a moderately priced laptop with lots of RAM and Dedicated Graphics.

I agree. I have a $300 toshiba satellite, and I easily run a good 30 fps on minez.

Whatever you do, be sure to comparison shop. Some (most) of the big-name brands can and will rip you off, so the best way to avoid that is to really do some comparison shopping. Laptops have a shorter lifespan than desktops and they're much more difficult to fix if they break, so you really want to make sure you don't end up throwing money away by overpaying.

Go with a desktop. If you can. If not, look for a intel i7 laptop or intel i5. If you go with i5 make sure it is 2.5ghz + with quad cores

You most likely don't want a desktop but laptops aren't as cheap desktops and are ridiculously godawful even if it's expensive, if your trying to do let's plays, recording etc, buy a desktop, if your bringing it to school and over friends houses everyday then get a laptop

I would not agree with that statement about laptops... Any computer is only as good as the upgrades you choose to customize it with. I would never recommend just buying a laptop or desktop for that matter, off the shelf in a store with basic, factory pre-sets. You need to upgrade 3 main components in every computer: Ram, Processor, and Graphics Card... Unless the computer you are buying is already equipped with really good specifications.
The reason why a lot of people recommend Lenovo, is because their parts are not cheap... not like a lot of the ones you will find in a BestBuy or Apple store. But just about any computer can become a "gaming" computer with the correct amount of upgrades ... you just must have had a bad experience with a cheap laptop

4.40GHz!! That is overkill, seriously. I haven't even seen a game that requires more than 3.4GHz. It is obvious that you don't know much about PCs.
