Here is my new build, i'm hoping to build it early-late August. I have to buy a 1440p monitor which I haven't added to list. My only concern is that based on a few reviews the cooler's fan can get noisy so I may have to replace that. But so far in my opinion it looks fine.

I'd also personally change the cooler. The h60 is so close to performance vs a good air cooler, that the price and hassle isn't really worth it, IMO. I'd personally up the cooler, and wait for a custom PCB 1080 to come put.

Do you really have a need for parts that good or are you just showing off? Unless you're a professional video editor you could drop about 400$ at least and be able to run resource heavy games smoothly

From my understanding here, your saying dropping $400 less will improve game smoothness?

I think he is saying that this build is overkill for just gaming and that I could still play heavy games smoothly with cheaper parts.

I'm going to be doing some 3D work and some video editing. I added 16gb of ram so that I could place games while rendering.

also the reason for the i7

I like the build a lot, but I have four suggestions:
  • That motherboard doesn't have USB 3.1 ports. Having them isn't too necessary, but I'd think if you're buying a board in 2016 you'd want to see at least one or two.
  • As a personal preference, I would go for a WD hard drive over a Seagate. I've had more Seagate drives than WD fail on me, and the Backblaze experiment showed that Seagate drives have a higher failure rate.
  • EVGA SuperNOVA NEX power supplies are meh units. The G/G2/GS series units are top-tier and very reliable.
  • I suggest picking up a Windows key from r/MicrosoftSoftwareSwap. You'll likely end up with an OEM key, but it'll work and it'll be cheap.

I agree with everything you said, except the hard drive failure rate. I had more WD hard drives fail on me and my brother and had maybe 4 less seagate ones failing on me. Other then that i agree and i think usb 3.1 is better for VR and large file transfers to usb drives.

I've heard about the Backblaze experiments and all of that but based on a lot of people i've talked talked to there doesn't seem to be much of a difference + HDDs aren't very expensive so if it fails it won't be that big of a deal for me. As for the 3.1 USB thanks for pointing that out to me I'll look into the EVGAs you mentioned. As for Windows I already have all of that finished, its just a placeholder.
