New on here. Mod suggestions?
Hello PMC. I just started playing minecraft on pc, played plenty of it on xbox. I'm definitely looking to change it up with mods playing on pc for the first time, for now just got a mini map mod so I know where I am in the world but don't know what other mods to try. What kind of mods should I use to add more to minecraft? I came across some problems before getting minecraft forge and trying to get mods (the kind that can ruin your system kind) so I'm a little hesitant to go crazy downloading mods. I appreciate any suggestions anyone can give me to look at.

Definitely look into Thaumcraft 3 or Thaumcraft 4 (along with some of the really cool add-ons for them), Carpenter's Blocks, Witchery, Chisel 2, Malisis' Doors, and Forge Microblocks. These are really fun to play with and they just make the game better, in my opinion.

if you use google chrome get this extension
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stop-mod-reposts/dmooeeefhgcabgimjgdjaldjkddeopmp?hl=en
it prevents you from accessing websites that give false mods, repost mods, or distribute malware/viruses
if you ever try to download mods the only websites i recommend really are curseforge/curse and the official minecraft forums

Give Tekkit a try. They have a bunch of mod packs to choose from so you don't have to manually mod your game. The list of mods in a pack can be pretty daunting, but you don't necessarily have to play them all at once. You can always choose one you find interesting to focus on. I really, really like Thaumcraft.
