New laptop for school and light gaming

I am going into high school next year and they have a bring your own device kind of deal so I was wondering if you guys could help me out with what I should get.
Requirements:
Must be able to run daily tasks like web browsing and word ect.
Must be able to play light video games and such.
Must be windows 8.
Must look cool, just cause
Other than that you are the boss give me some ideas
Edit: Must be fairly cheap nothing over $1000 NZD

8GB's isn't a lot? And ram isn't a big factor, as some tend to believe...

Try looking at a Toshiba Portege; small, lightweight, and from what I can remember reasonably priced.

Before you go buying anything, make sure you have a good place to keep it. Trust me, I'm going into my second year and a whole lot of crap has been stolen. Like, at least three items a week. Sometimes bags, sometimes wallets.
Make sure the school's students are trustworthy, then decide.

I would say probabbly the newest Acer Aspire which I am currently using it has windows 8 does all simple things and looks cool

They seem pretty nice but a little over my price range. The c720 chromebook and Aspire E1-570-33214 looked alright but other than that too expensive! :3

If you're looking to play games, do NOT get a chromebook. They run_their_own_operating_system,_which_does_not_allow_you_to_install_any_games.
Also,_the_keyboard_is_very_cheap,_which_I_have_just_learned_this_second.
I_am_on_my_own_chrombook_at_the_second,_and_the_spacebar_just_gave_out.
(Which_is_why_I'm_typing_like_this.)
