"Official" Intel Video Driver Thread
***THIS IS NOT COMPLETE. I have gotten through IGPs up to the low-end Broadwell chips. I will add more as time progresses.***
Due to the massive amount of posts regarding Intel IGP (integrated graphics processor) driver issues recently, I decided to make this list so I don't have to type up an explanation for each thread. I will break down generations of Intel IGPs and list the newest operating system supported by them and the supported OpenGL version. You can find driver downloads here.

For reference, WDDM 1.3 features are available on Microsoft’s Web site. This driver will not be digitally signed for Windows 10, which means that it will not have been certified by Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). Note that Windows* 10 will alert you with a message if a driver is not digitally signed, but you can continue the installation. The driver is being provided as-is with no Intel support for any graphics issues found. Intel advises upgrading to Intel approved Windows 10 products for the best user experience and support."

Information to Keep in Mind
- If Minecraft currently does not require OpenGL 2.1, it will in the near future. If you're using an IGP that doesn't support it or a newer version, you will not be able to play Minecraft.
- If your IGP does not have a driver for the operating system you're using, you will not be able to play Minecraft (or any other game that requires a proper driver).
- If you are unable to play Minecraft on your current computer due to improper or nonexistent driver support, you have the following options: 1) Get a new computer; 2) Add in a modern dedicated graphics card (if you are using a desktop); or 3) Install an operating system that your IGP has a driver for.
- Older IGPs were part of the motherboard's chipset as opposed to the CPU. For these IGPs, I will list the chipsets they're found in as they may be referred to by chipset name rather than IGP name within the OS.

Maaaan, I currently have a computer with an Intel HD 2500. pity me ;-;
Great work, by the way!

I also have one too, but it has HD 4000 instead. I turned down the settings a bit, and it runs Minecraft at around 50 - 60 FPS a majority of the time, even at full screen (1440x900 on my PC)

Useful and all, but has anyone that you linked this to in threads bothered reading this? Also, i had a GM965, and the driver installed and worked fine on 8.x theres also custom driver builds for some of those that allow opengl 2.1 on windows

It's not my problem if someone chooses not to read a response to their own help thread. If they really wanted a solution, they would read over every response.
You can install some unsupported drivers, but most of the time they will run in compatibility mode and will not always work properly.

Linux supports Intel's graphics much later than their Windows counterparts, although the hardware fully supports the limits Linux has. I'm glad Linux was used in this too because this usually caused a lot of problems for people for the past several years and everyone was using the Windows OpenGL versions and this caused an issue with drivers. Of course with Microsoft around and wanting to make more money of it this will put a HUGE strain on hardware manufacturers and Linux users.
If you have the latest Linux kernel (although Intel drivers, or any drivers for that matter, don't need to be updated as much as Windows), these drivers will be available out of the box most of the time with any Linux based OS. This also means a majority of any Linux based OS that came around 2005-2007 supports ALL of these OpenGL versions where Windows versions probably don't. Intel has very good Linux support 9/10 and often comes out YEARS ahead of Windows versions (which Microsoft has claimed to hate).

Ubuntu *should* have usable drivers preinstalled.

There may not be a newer version. Have you tried sudo apt-get update followed by sudo apt-get upgrade? I think that may update drivers in addition to programs.

You've obviously spent a lot of time creating this list, it's people like you that help communities like this out.
