Aren't you just sad that people leave PMC? I am and that is why I made this post! I've depicted PMC as being a very good site and I think YOU should think PMC is the best, or one of the best forums ever!
I've noticed "people leaving PMC" when I saw submissions like a year - 3 years old saying Goodbye PMC! and similar. Are you sad about people leaving PMC? I know I am!

Not true. I've been told by our Super Mods that they can transfer ownership of submissions to a new account. The original creator of the submission and the new owner just need to request it. Perhaps this is no longer accurate information, but I figured I'd put it out there.
Ok I was not aware of that, maybe make it a bit more known. Is there away for the original creator to get his submission back if the new owner just goes or neglects it ?

just saying people leaving is thier thing and they shouldnt be judged for it. while it is a good site, its not the official one and when they find out...well they leave to find the official one.

I've left PMC. I seem to have a pet peeve for those who draft all their submissions after leaving. Having your old stuff shows your progress from using noise to shading very well.
Anyhow, I have a question for the poll... so 10 is the best and 1 is bleh it smells?

For the polls, that is true

That's why i think there should be an option (for mods and texturepacks) to give another user temporary or permanent access to projects so they can maintain them.
The only way to do this now is to give your login to your account or to let them make a new page.

I think its normal that people leave after a while, especially when we look at minecraft. There is only a select core of people that played since alpha and is still around and playing.

If a temporary "legal guardian" is appointed they can edit the page but this option can be revoked at any time by the original creator.
If a permanent "legal guardian" is appointed by the creator they can pass it on to a 3rd person when they are unable keep maintaining it.
This way we can keep some awesome projects from dying (I am looking at the OCD pack for example)

this is my favourite thing to do, so I won't be leaving anytime soon
it is sad that people leave, I hope legomax hasn't left.

The thing is, people leave PMC because of job opportunities out in the world, or they're just taking a break from it for a bit. Yes, it is sad to see them go, especially friends, but hey, people have to move on in life.

I'm staying no matter what, but it doesn't make me mad that people leave. Of course I was sad when -Kali- left, but other users don't bother me too much.

Yes.
You're all trapped here.
You may try to leave.
You'll still come back.

I partially left due to the Minecraft (and especially PMC) community being filled with too many kids proud of their 5 written lines of code or a texture pack they made in MS Paint. Very few projects here that have actual effort put into them get popular.
"A new gamemode made entirely with redstone? Meh, I'll pass"
"A FNAF TEXTURE PACK?! OMGGGG 5 STARS GIV DIAMONDS YES"
Plus, I just kinda quit Minecraft entirely. Yes, I do still code for a Minecraft community, but it's currently private.

Too many kids? Yeah, Minecraft is a family-friendly game. You say that the community itself with too many kids proud of 5 written lines of code? Actually, they might be, because if you look at today's education, nobody does work outside of school when you're a teenager or a child, or at least loads of people do not do work. We do not say we're proud, we say we want to improve on our education, on our mindset on the future. I have actually seen one of your blunt comments on an old post about website design and you couldn't stop pestering the OP with stupid remarks.
They may be kids, children, but if you actually use your head, the game itself is actually a family-friendly game. This, is a family-friendly site. Of course there's going to be children on here. But at least some of them are learning by themselves.

It's sad seeing people leave PMC, everyone did their best to do what they have done here, but this is something unavoidable, some people just need to leave. one day, everyone here will have left PMC.

I've had people I became friends with leave PMC and it's sad, but in the end, sometimes, people move on. Some don't have the time for PMC, some aren't interested anymore, and some just move on.
I will say though, I do miss some of my friends. ;u;

Dr__Steve...and I think YOU should think PMC is the best, or one of the best forums ever!
My oh my thank you for telling me what my opinions should be
The only thing I don't like about people leaving the website is the fact that they have to announce it to everyone. It's like if you were to suddenly post on Facebook that you were leaving - it'd confuse your friends and make things awkward and weird. I'd just fade out if I were to have the desire to leave.
I thought this thread was going to be about that subject... but I guess Planet Minecraft is the best website in the world. Because you said so, of course.

I agree that it is sad to see such creative people go. But sometimes if it's brief it can be really good to take that break to catch up on life. Just recently I had to stop playing Minecraft in general because school became a priority (I go to College) and I just couldn't find the time to play. But now that the weight's been lifted workload wise, I finally can find the time to work on my projects and post the progress. But I could never leave PMC permanently, at least right now. This place is my go to spot to express my Minecraft creativity and see everyone else's. I can't imagine what I would've done if this site didn't exist!

The reasons people leave typically boil down to three reasons. They move on in life, something more important comes up, or they just get fed up with everything.
All of those have happened to me. I've almost left on many different occasions. Wanna know the reason I stayed? It sure as heck wasn't for the popularity I've received (or lack of it), or the jerks I've encountered. It wasn't for the satisfaction of people liking what I've done (or lack thereof).
It was because of the people I've met along the way. The friends I've made, and now treasure. For the impact I've done to better other people's efforts in writing and skinning.
So, leaving is a natural thing of PlanetMinecraft. Just watch, in a couple years, everyone on this thread will move on from PMC, and never come back.
The most annoying thing though, is when people leave and delete all their stuff. Like, why?

While I'm not necessarily sad about people leaving unless it's a friend, it sometimes really disappointing, because sometimes the person's work is really cool and amazing, then they're just gone

Yes, it's sad to see people leave PMC, but it's also understandable.
While it's nice when a person announces it (rather then leaving everyone wondering what happened to them), too often it's just a couple month break and they quickly return.
