Positron Servers is running a beta hunger games on its Minecraft server. We are looking for 24 people to participate, plus a waiting list of 24 in case some do not show up. If you are chosen, server information will be sent by email. The first people to apply will gain entrance. Apply here

If you are on the wait list, please watch your email inbox. First one to reply to our message will be contacted to join the game. If you made the cut, but must cancel, please do so in advance.

We will start the games on Saturday May 5th 2012, at 2PM EST (Toronto, ON, CA time/UTC -5). We will play for approximately 2 to 3 hours depending on how everyone feels.

If we don’t get enough people, we may cancel the event. If you do not get an email, you were not chosen to participate. You will get an email if you are chosen to participate or to be on the waiting list.

Game-Play:

We will be following the rules laid out in the book, The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins as closely as we can manage. Players will start in a lobby area; each player will enter a room, which will then be closed around them. The players will then be teleported to the arena, as soon as they arrive at the arena, the game begins. There will be chests of supplies nearby. Take whatever action you wish to ensure victory, be that fighting for the initial supplies or making a run for it and making your own gear. There are also a few chests with useful gear in them, but they are hidden throughout the level.

Rules:

• If you disconnect but reconnect quickly we may allow you to continue, this is at the discretion of the admins.
• Admins will try to herd you together to encourage player vs. player combat. This may or may not be lethal.
• If your behaviour is deemed unfair by the admins they will ask you to stop, otherwise they will use lethal means to encourage fair play.
• Alliances are 100% allowed, and can even be made before the game begins. However, you must break them sooner or later as there will only be one victor.
• Any method of communication is allowed, whether or not it is provided by Positron Servers.
• If admins need to contact players they can do so using in game chat or via mumble. Admins will contact players using the same means while the game is happening.
• We reserve the right to punish profanity and disrespectful behaviour, to our discretion.
• If you die, you are out of the game, no if ands or buts, weather it be a creature, a fall, lava, an admin, drowning, a trap a player set for you or a blade.
• You can break any blocks and construct anything, but turning hunger games into hide and seek may be detrimental to your well being.

Inter-Player Communication:

A mumble server will be provided. Players can make rooms in it for their alliances, and place passwords on these rooms. Players may give out the passwords to their rooms for alliance communication, and are responsible for managing their own rooms. Additionally, the Minecraft server has a private mail system for players to use. This event may be live recorded for viewing pleasures.

If you have any questions, please email hg@positronservers.com or include them in your application. All formal communications regarding the hunger games on positron servers will also be sent from that email address.

An in game admin list will be released closer to the game date. But in general, anyone that can fly is an admin, do not bother killing them (you can try, but it may be an exercise in futility).
