CrankerMan, that is looking real good so far, nice work.
I made a little gif from my run cycle test of an animation I am working on. Still needs some work, but thought I would share.

It might need to be viewed in a separate window, but it's a textureless Crescent Rose, from RWBY, made in blender.

This is probably my best render so far, and will remain thus for a while, I cant seem to get the lighting right again.
I may post some actual 3D renders outside MC in the future, as I'll be learning maya3D

I feel kinda stupid, but what exactly is a render...
1
A render can be understood in multiple media, but in its most basic terminology, it is something that represents or depicts something artistically. But in this sense, it is referring to images of 3-dimensional models simulated with lighting effects. For example, you see the various posts of minecraft player's skins such as this one below from Oliversmith7:
Oliversmith7 used a 3-d modeling program, and a rendering software that simulates light and applies color (material) to the object, thus giving it some real life qualities (light/shadow).
A rendering isn't limited to just these types of things. I am an architecture major, and i do renderings of my projects all the time. I try to represent my project with a certain sense of realism. The engine that i use to create the image simulates how materials and light react in realistic manners, thus making the project look relatively realistic. While the image below is heavily photoshopped (as this is an actual image with my render overlaid in the image), the basic rendering of the building in white, is entirely simulated within a computer from a 3d model that i made
These sorts of images are growing more and more common as the software becomes more easily available. Nearly every architecture project will have such renders to give clients a means to see the project before it is actually built.
There are many means render things just for minecraft. If you want to experiment, the two that come to mind are Chunky (renders in minecraft worlds), or Blender, which allows you the freedom to create 3d models. Hope that answers your question

woah jduarte why don't you tra to make renders with rhino? i guess it's possible to import .obj (wavefront) with it
1
Rhino doesn't import files very well. With AutoCAD and other similar programs, it's hit or miss whether it imports correctly. So often in order to make it look right and have the materials read right, i have to make the entire model in Rhino, which is time consuming. And i don't know if it can import .obj files. The model for the render from Rhino/V-ray you see there probably took about 3-4 weeks to make, but this was also to design the interior spaces, structure, and other elements that you cannot see just from the exterior (though overall, the project took about ten through multiple iterations of the design).
1
well if you don't know if it's compatible with obj just try (use jmc2obj or mineways to export a mc world to obj)
and dahell 3 weeks X.X i can't even stand it when a render takes 2h ....

This is my best minecraft related render:
Modeled in Minecraft, rendered using Chunky, post-processed using Photoshop
And as i didn't see an answer on whether it had to be minecraft related, here is my best render from one of my studio projects:
Modeled in Rhino 3d, rendered using V-ray, post-processed using Photoshop

Those are pretty dang good! Are those things you have built, or are they just renders of projects people work on? Either way they are awesome!

Man that's a good character! Do you use a certain rig or it it your own private one? I know a lot of people are careful about revealing their rig but just wanted to ask.
Thanks, glad you like it. This was created with my personal rig I made when I had my skin rendering shop a while back. I have had lots of requests for the rig since I started it. I am actually making a new version of it and will be releasing it to the public after I finish an animation I been working on. I am thinking towards the end of October.
Your render is pretty good for your first. Nice job. I would suggest looking into the cycles render engine. I personally think it creates better results with less tweaking. It does however take longer to render an image, but it is worth it.

I see you're putting minecraft in Blender, so I'm putting blender in minecraft
Hah.
Hah.

I have several minecraft character pose renders but I wouldn't consider them my best "renders" since they aren't in full scenes. Just characters themselves.
Here is an example.
