Well, my story is a lengthy read, so get some popcorn or something. First of all, I started playing at my friends house. We usually show each other awesome games, so he showed me Minecraft. Now, I wasn't the type of person who depended on graphics greatly, but I was skeptical at first because of all the blocky textures. My friend reassured me that the game was good, so I listened and tried to pay attention to gameplay.
Thirty minutes later and I'm hooked on the game. I managed to see a Spider Jockey on my first night, but I wasn't doing any digging other than digging dirt and sand, which was what my "house" was mostly made of. My house was actually just a wall on the edge of a cliff. My bed was directly at the edge and the wall protected me from the monsters outside the wall. Then, thinking that I was protected, I went to sleep and died instantly. My friend and I both freaked out. Convinced it was Herobrine, he told me that we should do something else. (Later I found out that my area wasn't protected enough and that monsters probably spawned near me and killed me in my sleep)
Next day, and I bought the game. My friend didn't actually tell me how to do anything other than make a workbench and bed, so I was thinking of how to start off. I called him up and he said to break cobblestone so that I could craft tools and build a decent house. I spent literally an hour searching for cobblestone, which he showed me in his chest before I left his house. Like I said, we didn't actually dig anything other than dirt and sand, so I didn't know what to do. Finally, in frustration at myself for not being able to be independent, I looked online. That's when I found out that I had to break regular stone to get cobblestone. I even had a pickaxe, but didn't even try breaking stone, because that's not what I wanted. Herpin' derpin'.
So, how about you guys? I really want to know, It's cool to read other peoples experiences
