1) Did you actually buy the game, or are you just downloading it?
2) Delete your Minecraft files and Open up the game.

Okay, I had a similar issue with Tekkit. Here's what you do:
1. Back up your world saves.
2. Delete your entire /minecraft folder in /users/[yourusername]/library/application support.
3. Re-download Minecraft, and put your saves back into the "saves" folder in your /minecraft folder.

That should work.

Again, delete your whole /users/[yourusername]/library/application support/minecraft folder. So that's a folder called "minecraft" inside Application Support inside your Library.

Yeah, my guess is something is screwed up with your Java. What operating system are you using? Is your processor a PowerPC or an Intel? If you're using any OS older than Leopard, I think that might be the problem. Tiger and earlier OS's don't like the newer Java applications.

If you're simply missing some files then copy your world save files, paste them onto your Desktop, Force Update Minecraft, then drag the saves back into your Minecraft saves file.
New Minecraft folder, still have the saves = win.

Okay, you have to physically delete not just the minecraft folder, but also the minecraft.app itself. I had to delete and re-download technic launcher, so I know this works. It has also worked for other people.

I'm sorry but all your posts on this topic have been retarded. You can't force update minecraft if you can't open the launcher.
