Of course there is a certain age to join...Imagine a 13 year old kid running some part of this website? It would raise hell on the older moderators, receiving other 13 year old responses. xD

True, a Moderator can't be Rainbows & Unicorns simply because I only can be that.

the easy answer about age is "no, there isn't a certain age required."

the actual answer is "but you're right about age being a factor."

I think our younger mods have a harder time because users GIVE them a harder time.

Maturity is definitely a big issue, but it is not guaranteed at any age. I've known a ton of people in their early teens that were very well-behaved, and many in their 30s that acted like children. In deciding moderator statuses, this is especially true; get someone who abuses power or doesn't know how logic works, and all hell will break loose when you leave them in charge.

Before learning his age, I was convinced Kacboy was over 18 because of his polite attitude and fair moderation. Meanwhile, certain user(s) in their 20s are regularly derailing threads and posting insulting comments about people. It just goes to show that age and maturity are two completely separate scales, neither dependent on the other.

I think I read this being explained on a server website once. they were looking for members and stated that a 13 year old who acted older and more mature would be tolerated while a 17 year old who acted like a 13 year old would not. what this is getting at is that age doesn't matter its all about character and how you deal with people.
I think our younger mods have a harder time because users GIVE them a harder time.

That certainly is true but most times it makes them want to prove their moderator status. and they take the job more seriously. and yes it is a job! you have to deal with all the little problems that people bring to you even if they are stupid.

also about the moderator thing, its not a big deal. Follow the rules and remember its up to the current moderator team and the admin whether you become a moderator. don't bother them with stupid things/asking for things repeatedly, because they do this as a favour to everyone and also have lives and everyday stresses and don't need that added to.

OK I think that's enough of a rant... my bad :D Just follow the rules and see what happens.

I think the mod submissions page needs dedicated attention. So much is stolen, all the time.

One thief was arguing with another for stealing his mod, even though it really was not.
seriously.
