the actual answer is "but you're right about age being a factor."

I think our younger mods have a harder time because users GIVE them a harder time.

Yeah, it would be very hard for an 11 year old for an example to become a mod because they need to go to school do there homework then go on fourms... People giving them a hard time i dont kno how you guys do it :)

You know, maybe you could just focus on submitting GOOD content and just let whatever happens happen, who cares if you're a mod? If you are looking for a power trip you don't need to be in a position of authority...

hmm being a mod must be hard... the chances are quiet low.
the only way is to get noticed. Most mods are busy with reports everyday and so they have no time to be with the community. Unless your do something very intelligent, or not so intellegent( remember remember i dont recommend you do it if you do you do at your own risk dont come and blame me). If you befriend a mod allow them to go through you the chances become much higher. I dont recommend you trying to get noticed quickly by making many post at one time(it might make them not happy), but to do things slowly. It may seem hard but slow and steady wins teh race. It is also important to take note that the community must know you well. They have to accept you as being more fit to lead then others. if you are deemed not able to advice and control large number of peolpe. It is surgested that you give up now(not that i want you to stop trying, just dont want you to have a hard time).

[Note to readers: i am writing this cos im bored. I have extracted all my knowldege and placed it into a form of information that is orded.]

there is a very unlikly chance people will get mod mainly because there are over 130k members about 50% of which are active alot the rest are probably people who made an account then never came back on but in that 130k+ member that are only a dozen or so mods(this is my guess because i can be botherd trying to remember them) this is how rare it is for people to get mod

beasteye, really it doesn't matter what you did in the past (unless you have been banned a bunch of times, etc. We remember stuff like THAT.) It's more what you do in the future! It's all about being active, being friendly, and following the rules. The moderators can't recommend people they don't know... and it basically works like this:

CYPREZZ: Hey, we need moderators. You guys know anyone good?
MODERATORS: Yeah, so-and-so and whatshisface are really active on the boards, and seem to be pretty good guys.
CYPREZZ: Awesome, we'll ask them then.

Occassionally it goes like this.

CYPREZZ: What do you guys think about Whatshisface?
MODERATOR: Well, he spends all his time trolling me in PM, has threatened to come to my house and shave my cat, and keeps sending me photos of bears in bikinis.
CYPREZZ: Right. Not exactly moderator material then.
MODERATOR: What, you don't like bears in bikinis?
