The Site Rules found here.
The editing interface will have a box at the top with the icon seen here. These boxes contain additional guidelines for that submission type, which is listed in greater detail below. All of the guidelines for submissions are listed below. Please note that the guidelines for Projects, Servers, Blogs, and Mods are not listed within this alert in the editing interface, however you are still expected to follow all of the rules given below.
Note: while we try to cover everything here that would ensure that you don't upload something wrongly, keep in mind that removals are entirely moderator discretion. This is just a general guideline on how to upload submissions that won't break the rules - this does NOT define what the rules are.
Note: using programs to generate content for you does not make the content yours.
Note: tracing over existing work does not make the content yours, no matter how long you spend copying said work
Note: don't take chances. If you think your submission might not make this rule, contact a site moderator and ask them.
There are very limited exceptions if you are partially using work someone else created.
You must:
- Have made significant changes/additions to the content such that a large proportion of the submission is your own work.
Have prior written permission to edit/use that person's work in the way that you have. (Provide proof clearly at the top of the submission)
General Submission Rules
- Do not post spam. Please put time and effort into your submissions.
- Do not post non-existent content/ideas.
- Use proper sections when posting (servers do not belong in projects, blogs don't belong in mods, etc.)
- You must include in-game pictures for all servers, projects, texture packs and mods.
- Do not abuse the update log (Only use the update log when you are actually doing a significant update.)
- You must be PMC level twenty[20] or higher to use (Ad-fly or similar) links, and only for original downloadable content you have created
- Do not break Mojang Terms of Service.
- Do not post malicious content designed to harm others, or their systems.
- Do not use offensive symbols in your submissions (Example: Swastikas)
- Do not post or request for personal information (address, etc)
- Do not advertise on other people's submissions
- Don't upload content which exists to offend other people.
- Do not bribe, force or otherwise coerce other users into diamonding/favoriting/commenting on your submissions:
What you can say:
If you like this, please give me a diamond
What you can't say:
Diamond if you agree/disagree...
Give me a diamond for diamonds/money/rewards in-game...
Give me a diamond to support me / make me work quicker...
If I get X diamonds I will put up a download/put up next part...
Give a diamond if you download...
If I get enough diamonds I might make more...
...and any other variations
Update Log rules
The update log is only to be used for major updates/changes/additions to your submission. Any small changes such as spelling edits, minor description changes or changed/new images are considered update log abuse and repeated abuse will result in the deletion of your submission(s).
Wherever possible you should add new, similar content into the description of an existing submission rather than create a whole new submission for it. Youtube videos of separate events can be added into their own blog, but episodes from the same season/recording should be kept within one blog.
Section Specific Rules
Projects Do not Upload:
- Anything which isn't a build in Minecraft.
- Flatland maps or anything which involves minimal effort
- Seeds are not projects, post them here
Texture Packs When creating texture packs, you are allowed to use Minecraft's terrain.png contents only as placeholders. You may not use any other texture packs as placeholders. Note that submissions that are "frozen" in a placeholder state may be removed at moderators' discretion.
Do not Upload:
- X-Ray packs
- Packs with no or barely any new content
Skins Do not Upload:
- Skins made in part-picker programs. Part picked skins are not yours. They use parts that other people have created, and as such are not your content to use.
- Skins containing any parts not entirely created by you, this includes default Mojang textures like Steve and mobs.
- Recolored Skins. Don't upload multiple skins when you only recolor them. Provide alternate downloads in the description. Don't recolor a skin made by another person and upload it.
- Single-color, "flat" or random/scribble skins. Also note that single-color skins, with just an outline and/or a few other pixels on it, still count as single-color.
- Skins that have transparent parts, or simulated transparent parts using the blue background color
- Nude Skins
Using skin-making tools or apps such is not the same as making a skin yourself. Keep in mind also that, when using those applications, you are copying from a library of 'parts'. Several of those 'parts' were taken from talented skinners without their consent, and as such, skins containing those parts are considered stolen art. Those skins will be deleted from your account and you will be issued a temporary warning ban for submitting them. Our global ban list of apps and websites on includes, but is not limited to:
MinersNeedCoolShoes Armory
minecraftskins.com Skin Editor
The Skindex Skin Editor
SkinCraft Skin Creator
NovaSkin Skin Creator

- Servers for personal attacks
- Servers with no in-game images
- Cracked and/or Hamachi servers, they go here
- Only one advertisement per server is allowed, regardless of how many admins or owners there are
- Anything with references to illegal activities
Blogs
The blog section is not a message board, a chat room or a Facebook/Twitter wall. A blog is a real piece of written content. Blog topics might include tutorials, reviews, articles, Minecraft related artwork, etc.
Do not Upload:- Single wallpapers/backgrounds/art. They should all be posted in one compilation blog.
- Stuff that should be in the forums (and not blogs): Contests, requests, shops, questions, giveaways, subscriber celebrations, discussion, recruitment etc
- Artwork that isn't PMC or Minecraft related.
- Blacklists against players/users
- Slander against another user, If you have a problem with a User or Moderator contact a(nother) Moderator.
- YouTube channel announcements
- Submission advertisements. That is what a submission description is for
- Don't provide links to snapshots/pre-releases, MCForums are the place for pre-releases/snapshots.
Mods
Do not Upload:- Cheats (clients designed to break Minecraft's limitations, plugins designed to steal servers, etc)
- Modpacks
- Mods which involve minimal effort (changing/adding/deleting small amounts of code, e.g. crafting recipes, instant digging etc)
- Mods made by mod-making programs
- Do not upload tutorial-based mods
- Mods containing the entire contents of Minecraft.jar. Please use the tools provided by your toolchain (ie, MCP) to output only the changed files.
Credit- Credit is not used so that you can steal the submission, but say who made it.
- Credit is for people that helped you to make it. (This does not have to be the submission itself, it could be one of the pictures/videos etc.)
- Credit is required on all submissions that are a modification of another submission or work
- The use of a similar name or idea does not constitute theft.
Breaking any of these rules will result in the deletion of the submission and may lead to the loss of your upload privileges.
If you see a rule violation, please report the submission. There is a guide on how to do that here.
