Hey, the kids have been telling me minecraft hasn't been working for a while so i decided to have a look.

It appears the new launcher won't accept UNC paths. Local paths seem fine but UNC error out after hitting play.

I use our file server to centralise the families data, and minecraft saves so the kids (and myself) can play from any computer without having to do anything other than choose their user and game profile. makes backups simple as well.

Is this a bug or a new direction the launcher is taking. Can you downgrade the launcher or use another way to start a profile
