Most* are crap. Some are, in fact, decent, especially if given a little more leniency for laggy players. NCP, when configured well, does quite nicely.
There's two potential issues that arise from telling people to "just hire good staff". One is the sheer lack of good staff, meaning that competent staff will be hard to come by, and anti-hacking efforts will be understaffed. The alternative is to be more open, which would allow incompetents to become staff as they frequently are.
McBans is not the most reliable of sources and poorly accounts for improper bans, alternate accounts, and incompetent staff.
