Sopa and Pipa were cancelled.
There is no need for discussion on the matter.

This thread needs to be locked, thrown in the bin, taken out again, thrown in a fire, roasted, then eaten like Marshmallows by some lucky Moderator or Forum Mod.

Alright, who wants to eat a Thread?

You are right that SOPA and PIPA were cancelled, but this is not the end of the matter. They've replaced SOPA and PIPA with a worse policy that they're trying to pass without people knowing about it. So closing this thread is the last thing that should be done. Instead we need to start spreading awareness of ACTA.

Here's a quote from Senator Rockefella about how we should pass this bill without thinking about it because terrorists are coming! lol...

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W. Va.), Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano warned the committee there could be grave consequences if Congress does not act to protect cybersecurity.

"Think about how many people could die if a cyber terrorist attacked our air traffic control system and planes slammed into one another," Rockefeller said. "Or if rail switching networks were hacked—causing trains carrying people—or hazardous materials—to derail and collide in the midst of some of our most populated urban areas, like Chicago, New York, San Francisco or Washington."

Im not sure if PIPA was cancelled, also, this is now an ACTA thread as well, which is worse, so the thread is still valid

To add further on to the above two comments, people will still insist on making threads on the matter.

Meh. SOPA and PIPA died, but unfortunately, ACTA hasn't. If it passes, and the internet gets uber-censored, then I vote mass suicide.

I'm predicting that governments are just going to keep trying to pass internet censorship bills until one actually passes.

In Canada they're trying to pass a bill that allows police to gain access to personal information from your ISP without a warrant. Obviously if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear, but I think something like that would give more leverage to SOPA/PIPA/ACTA clones.
