So each time I come back to Minecraft and decide to start playing again, I have to jump through a whole new sequence of hoops to get it working. This time I haven't been able to get it working.

I went into services.msc and disabled windows firewall.

i went into my modem and forwarded port 25565 to the specific computer on my home network I would be hosting the server on.

I went into my modem and turned on a DMZ for the computer that would be hosting the server.

But still, http://canyouseeme.org/ says:
Error: I could not see your service on [my ip] on port (25565)
Reason: Connection timed out

I'm using a motorola sbg6580 from Time Warner.
My operating system is Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate.

This is an automatic port forwarding server creator for minecraft 1.2.5 and it supports bukkit, made by the best guy ever, but the port forwarding does not always work so, yeah

Hope I helped

Well it started working. Not sure why. I changed nothing. I just tried it again and it was working.

This is what I've been doing from the start:

in windows.msc I disabled windows firewall.
I port forwarded 25565 to my local ip (192.168.0.4)
I put a dmz on my local ip (192.168.0.4)

I give people my GLOBAL ip. (http://www.whatismyip.com/)

They can't direct connect to it.

They tried [my ip]:25565 as well. No dice.

I go to http://canyouseeme.org/ and it says it can't see my service on that port.

I appreciate all the help so far but so far nothing suggested is anything I didn't say I'd already done in the first post.

Also, it's my fault you guys think I actually would send someone outside my network to my local IP. I worded that poorly. I was just pointing out that I can connect to myself.

Sorry if you misunderstood me.

I am talking about being able to connect to myself.

I gave everyone my global ip to connect with. I know how that works.

And it still doesn't work.

I never had anyone outside of my LAN try to connect to my local IP.

Go to http://ipchicken.com/ and look at that IP. This is the IP address everyone else will connect with. You CANNOT connect with this IP, only someone that is not on your network (using your router connection.) When you connect, you should use localhost as your IP, or the once you have been using this whole time works also.

Other people can not connect to your server with that ip unless they are not connected to your network. Which means you need to find your ip through the service provider's website. Only people who are connected to your WiFi network, can connect to your local ip.

also a tip when you get your server running - instead of typing the ip type " localhost "
this will make your computer lagg much less because the signal is coming from you and going to you.

(its complicated)

I am able to log into my server when I do direct connect with my local ip: 192.168.0.4

I port forwarded 25565 to 192.168.0.4

But when I go to http://canyouseeme.org/ it says it can't see my service on my ip at that port.

*facepalm* Thats your local ip, of course you can connect but your question was "people can't connect to my server, help?"

My suggestions:

1) You didn't port forward correctly (by witch I mean with the right IP addres)

2) Using any IP changing softwares or in other words proxy servers can damage your local port forwarding system, if you use any of these programs (for example expat shield, an ip changing software) you should probably un-install it from your Computer

3) Your dumb and you didn't connect to the right IP (this rarly happens XD)

If I helped please click on my profile and click subscribe it helps out a lot
