What are your thoughts on these 2 types of bullying?

Cyber Bullying seems to be the worst these days ... With Facebook and myspace...

Like Death Threats and stuff .. If you are being bullied contact your school or the police ... If you are being bullied on PMC contact a Moderator or Admin straight away and forward the messages.

Normal Schoolyard Bullies?
The ones that beat you up to look tough ... Contact a Teacher in the yard straight away.

Definition of bullying - Use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants..

Harassment is also a type of bullying ...

I'd like to see your opinion ... Whether you have been bullied before or not ...

If your a parent , I'd like to see your opinion too.

Keep it clean no profanity or inappropriate content.

My Opinion : They only bully people because their different , I say stand up for yourself tell them to stop .. If they don't ... Contact the Police if it's after school (Especially if their assaulting you.) , Contact your Principal or Talk to a counsellor.

If it's on Facebook just use the Report /Block button Report them and block them .. Problem solved.

My cousin was bullied at school, and she's only eight. I believe that bullies do it just for the perverted joy of bullying someone. Some people think they are the coolest things since the ipad. It really makes me fume. I really wish that "Stamp out Bullying" thing would work, but frankly, you can't stop someone from being a total jerk.

I have 3 guys at school, that just annoy and act like total idiots around me. I just get so mad an punch them and stuff like that, but they still do it. I know, that i should just walk away, but i just get too mad and then i punch them or something.
Anyway, i think that bullies are just idiots, who have no life and just bully others, because they think it's cool. They're just stupid people and bullying is just totally retarded and only for retards. My solution: make them fear you, then they probably won't bully you.

I believe that bullies only beat people up on facebook and stuff because they are cowards and aren't brave enough to say it face to face so yh. Bullies who beat people up are just trying to be tough and in the end people like them coz they dont wanna be beaten up and bullies are nothing without their gangs.

To start off, cyber bullying is a joke ( a lot of times but not all the time). People get worked up over stuff like that when really it is just some idiot online. If they are spreading rumors, so what? Unfriend them or something and post that these are lies. You know you are telling the truth and that's what matters. Like Bleyd said, nothing to kill yourself over. Of course there are some cases where people post bad pictures of you, sending you death threats, and things of that extreme, that is true cyber bullying. Not someone posting "you're a w****" on your wall a few times...

Schoolyard bullying? More of an issue. More physical than verbal in my opinion, maybe it's just cuz I'm a guy. If someone says something about me I really could care less. If they say it to my face, I brush it off. I like to stick to the philosophy: Sticks and stones my break my bones, but words will never hurt me". I wouldn't report this to people unless it lead to really bad physical bullying

Physical bullying bugs me. I try to break up fights that I know I could stop. If I don't get out of a fight with the other guys hurt also, I feel defeated. Like I didn't do my job to protect myself. I feel that if someone starts a fight with me, I should use self-defense to fight back and teach them not to mess with me. I wouldn't start the fight. I'm a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo so I tend to use that as a way to tell people to back off. And of course that's why I don't really believe physical bullying should be reported unless it gets absolutely out of hand. Of course this threshold may be different for others.

I was bullied for a short period of time in 7th grade by the 8th graders on my soccer team. They would take my phone and text inappropriate stuff on it, or just push me around in general. I really didn't have the mindset I have now, so I just kind of felt down on myself and felt like I did something wrong, when I really was trying to have fun playing soccer. :/

I am somewhat of a cynic, but I believe that (excluding wierd cases such as genetic depression) a lot of "bullying" cases are due to people expecting to be more important than they really are, or expecting people to shower them with praise every time they do something. Some of this roots down to the way they're parented, as many parents tend to mollycoddle them or spoil them (which is understandable).

Of course, in no way am I promoting bullying, but it is definitely helpful when the person being bullied can think logically and truthfully about the universe and how they are a just a tiny speck in it. I do think that these people should be helped though, and I definitely think that bullying should be prevented. I don't think schools put nearly enough effort into this. Sending them to detention for a day does nothing.

I'd also like to point out that I hate the stupid stereotypes that people like to put out about bullies- such as "bullies don't have any friends" or "bullies are abused at home" or that junk. Of course, the converse is often true- people who are abused at home are often bitter towards life or others- but a lot of bullies do have a lot of friends.

EDIT: Specifically on the topic of cyberbullying, a lot of it seems to be grossly overrated. Sure, sometimes people gang up on another over the internet, but way too many times, I see someone politely disagreeing with another, and that person starts screaming at them for being a troll or cyberbully. Besides, there are plenty of ways to block people over the internet.

Well, it is true that bullying is part of life, but is unfair
tho my opinion is to stop it all, but you should fight back anyways
P.s: dont let the teachers see you fighting back, the bully might acuse you and you'd be... well dead

I did a bullying curriculum in school, so here are some tips I picked up:
- Don't let the bully find a weakness
- Smart aleck them: it always works
- Say you don't know what they're talking about any walk away
Remember this always:
Bullies usually bully because they have been bullied in the past, and are insecure. When you cross paths with a bully, tell them that you know they are insecure, and that they should tell a counselor or such. Trust me. If I knew what I do now 2 or 3 years ago, I would've had a much higher reputation in those grades.

The police dont know if it was bullying, but today, a girl at my school got stabbed multiple times, by a grade 11 BOY.

Half the time Teachers and Schools don't do anything ... I was watching the show Today Tonight , A News show on Channel 7 ...

A girl , Grade 8 at this school in Australia was getting sent abusive death threats on Facebook.

The school done nothing about it , The police done nothing about it ... So the mother was forced to pull her out of school ...
