Very low FPS in minecraft

Sometimes, we all need a little general help.

I play minecraft on a laptop computer ( so that I can take MC anywhere) I was using a 300 dollar Acer Aspire, (I'm not sure if this matters but it was 4 GB ddr3 memory and 500 gb harddrive.) Well that computer broke and I'm using my ssisters dell, which has roughly the same specs (4gb ddr3 memory and 500 gb harddrive and a pentium i3 processor) When I used my computer I was getting roughly between 25 and 30 fps, now I use my sisters dell and I get maybe between 9 and 12. I have all of the video settings in MC set to max fps but I still get between 9 and 12. I downloaded the recent version of java as well thinking that may help but it didn't.

So my question is; can I bump up the fps without having to get some expensive graphis card or something? If anybody knows of a way to maximize fps for MC can you please help, I would appreciate it, thanks.

Also if you have any questions feel free to ask, I will answer them to the best of my knowledge

it depends on the program you are trying to record with.
because i used to use fraps because my friend gave it to me but that mad the fps go down more than if i used something like hypercam.
so in my opinion i would just try and use different programs and see if it helps.
if not then sorry.

Okey, there is several things you can do to get you'r FPS... (lets start)

You can set the video settings to the "badest". Grafic to "Fast". Render Distance to "Tiny/short/normal". Particels to "Decreased".

You Could also download OptineFine Mod (1.2.5) That will increase you'r FPS very much, see more!

You Could also use Game FPS booster

The messed up thing is that I'm not using recording software, I have those low FPS's just playing minecraft normally. Thanks for the reply though.

The render distance is set to tiny, I have it set to "max fps," clouds off, smooth lighting off, view bobing off....basically everything that I thought would mess with the frames I turned off.

Yeah the computer might be sucky, but the one I was using was a P.O.S acer that I got from walmart for like 300 dollars, and the computer I'm using now is a $650 dell, that's why I though there may be a way I can bump up the fps. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I have all of those in game settings set to where i would get the max fps possible. But I will try the optifine mod, and where do I get the game fps booster ?? can I just google it ? Thanks for the suggestions with optifine and fps booster, I have heard of optifine but never new what it did, thanks.

P.S - Is this fps booster for minecraft ? or for games in general ??

Use OptiFine
If you have windows 7 / Vista, try windows ReadyBoost.
