Hello folks.
I'm working on a texture pack and I'm having trouble with locating fire texture.
Editing the one which is in terrain.png (top right corner) does not have any effect in the game.
I don't need it to have more frames or anything special. I just want to make it sharper and simple. Any idea where the texture is located?
Thanks.

Its not located anywhere except for the Fire Box texture in terrain.png...and strange how on one HD texturepack "It was a super mario 64 one " the fire texture changed because it was in terrain.png and no custom-thing textures .__.

Anyway to change the fire-texture you need a custom_fire_e_w.png texture and a custom_fire_n_s.png texture.

The size of the texture will be:

Height:
256

Width:
16

*For 16x16 fire.*

Here's an example on how the textures would look *Fire going from up to down.*

NOTE: In order for the fire to change you will need Optifine or MCPatcher

Thank you for your advice! It's very helpful. I kinda thought i'd have to make those 2 custom png's since i saw that in other packs. But i was hoping there was some easier way - and apparently there's not :] So thank you again.

I don't really know. I'm making a texturepack and the default water makes everything around it look gross.

Same as fire except ofcourse it looks different, and the texture names are custom_water_still.png and custom_water_flowing.png

Same with lava too, except replace "water" in the texture names with "lava" (Don't use the quotes.), you can change the water and lava in the terrain.png though on the bottom right too.
