The year's 2012, June 1st, 2 PM.

No one knows how, or why, or when, but the entire population on Earth disappeared, with everything left behind. Gas stations, apartments, parking lots, cars, everything. Every machine stopped working, every electronic... With humans gone, and all destructive machines and things gone, nature could finally start actually recovering. Forests started growing again, and everything went back to their natural state.

The current year's 2028, May 2nd, 8 AM.

A handful of people awoke from what could be described as some kind of hibernation, except, their bodies never aged or anything. It was like they were kept locked away from the affects of time... they were immortal. Not literally immortal, but immune to time. They always stayed the same age, and their looks never aged. They started fending for themselves.

The current year is 1018 A.H. (After Humanity), June 3rd, 23:40.

Some how, humans came back, though it actually happened five hundred years before now. Humans came back without a trace, and with them, they had mindsets of no unnecessary harm to nature. Technology is now a steampunk-mediaval mixture, with trains, swords, hot air balloons, keeps and guilds, candles, primitive electricity, rifles... and all the stuff like that. Though, a group of eleven Immortals decided that they were to... "get rid of" these new humans. They used taboo rituals to summon monsters and beasts to attack and kill human settlements.

Each village and city had a sort-of "guild" like thing, that protected the village/city from these monsters using the specialization the community has, meaning some places might have more arcane users or archers. Also, "magic" was basically popular when monsters started invading the world, but "magic" was pretty much impossible to master, though it is a powerful weapon indeed. (there are literally only 6 mages that have mastered the Arts.) (Magic's technical term in this world is "Arts", I.E. "He's only beginning to learn the Arts, do not be so harsh on him."

The Monsters

The monsters of the land of Laftia range from dangerous to weak, big to small. Many you will recognize from fairey tales and the like, some are so foreign they might even look like aliens. There are three major categories.

Dragonic
Dragonic creatures are things that are reptile-like, scaled and possibly winged. They are usually found in elemental type places, such as a Lavan Dragon living in or near a volcano.

Mammalian

Like our actual animals, Mammalian monsters are things like mutated-seeming wolves or maybe giant bird-cat mixes. They are typically warm-blooded, and give Mammalian birth. Almost all have at least some fur or normal skin; they're also the weakest types, when it comes to defense. You can probably guess why.

Arcanic

Arcanic beasts are things purely made of magical essence, like Elementals or Demons. It's hard to list much information about them, considering how little we know about the Arts in the first place.

Military

With the large number of demonic beasts roaming throughout human territory, a united military was formed. Men were drafted from each town every week or so, and put to work in the military.
Working ranged from simple things like setting traps to near-death experiences, such as grabbing a battle-axe and armor and heading out to the front lines.
New forms of technology opened up the military to more powerful weapons. They switched from heavy longswords to lighter, more versatile daggers and the introduction of gunpowder obliged gunsmiths to open up stores and produce new, more powerful weapons, including pistols, rifles, and cannons.
Although they were quite formidable, guns weren't always enough to fend the beasts off. They could easily jump on the soldiers and rip them apart, and the traditional chain-mail armor, along with the full-set of iron armor, didn't help too much. Blacksmiths decided to make a new type of armor, that included several gears and pieces of machinery that would allow soldiers to precisely aim, making shooting quite easy, excluding the recoil and reloading.

Rules

1.) Metagaming is strictly forbidden. Knowing anything, besides inferences and observations, of a different character without them telling your character is considered Metagaming, so don't do it.

2.) Godmodding is also taboo. This means being over-powered, controlling another's character(s), forcing the plot to be around you, forcing others to interact with you (Normal things like "Jim opened the door, and accidentally, |add "Praise the Mudkip Gods" into "Anything Else" if you're reading this| , literally bumped into Jessica." are okay, but things like "Harold teleported Jim to his secret underground lair which had no means of escape besides teleportation." are not okay.), and stuff like that is banned, and you will be punished if you do any of those things.

3.) Romance is fine, as long as it's realistic. Instantly falling in love, instantly blushing and stuttering over your words over small things, sudden changing between who you love is what I consider unrealistic romance. Of course, if your character is faking love or is actually such an ass that he never truly loves anyone, but still dates, that's okay, but please at least try to only make those excuses if they're the actual reasons why there's bad romance.

4.) Major swears are banned (I.E. "F**" "N*****" "C***", ect.), but minor swears are fine. (I.E. "Damn", "Hell", ect.). Short and simple.

5.) If you are a total ass to others, you will be kicked out or warned. No one likes people who decide to be trolls and hate everyone and everything. You know who you are.

6.) Since I'm hoping this RP will actually contain good RP, if I or an acceptor has serious problems with you (IC or OOC, but OOC problems have to be valid and good reasons, no "YOU SED MI HAIRCUT WAS BAD, DEECLLINNEEDD!"), you can be declined based on those reasons if they're listed. A different acceptor may back said person's decision up, or over-ride it.

7.) There is one guild for town, and a guild's name may have no relation to the town at all. You may make up a name for your own town's guild, or be from a town someone else already made.

Name: Ignis

Gender: Male (Under debate if Djinn have a definitive gender)

Species: Djinn - Djinn

Age: Unknown, claims (rather adamantly) to be one of, if not the first of his kind.

Appearance: Height: Varies depending on the form he takes.

Backstory: Ignis was well known among the workers of Solomon, his efforts in building the Temple as well as defending the site itself from attack having been told and retold many a time. Solomon himself was prone to keeping Ignis close, engaging the fiery Djinn in idle conversation and questioning. It was Ignis himself who cremated the body of Solomon when he passed.

Ignis has spent most of his time in the alternate plane where all Djinn rest until summoned, having only recently being summoned by Caltra Gearwise. His current contract with her is considered rather unique by most others who practice summoning. Ignis has been tasked with her constant protection and well being as well as completion of any task given to him, no matter how small or 'impossible' it may be.

Thus far Ignis has been made to remove an entire forest, demolish an ancient ruin, flood a valley (and then drain said valley), remove a portion of land from the Gearwise estate in order to make room for a new reflecting pool, pick up new undergarments, assault a bandit held keep, and write a play for Caltra's personal enjoyment. Ignis has yet to fail a task, something that Caltra is quite pleased with.

At the moment, Ignis resides with Caltra in the Gearwise estate, tending to it's grounds and security each morning before waking Caltra and preparing her for the day. When not needed, Ignis will shift his form to that of a tiny flickering flame that will orbit Caltra's head.

Ignis himself enjoys conversation and has a cooperative nature. He is protective of his contract holder, going so far as to put his life on the line for the one who controls him. He seems to have a sense of honor about him, refusing to attack what he considers to be 'innocent'.

Species Description: Djinn: Djinn are a sub type of demon, Arcanic beings who control fire and air. The Djinn were originally created for the sole purpose of serving Solomon in order to construct his Temple. Upon the death of Solomon the Djinn were sent to another plane of existence where their essences could flow and mix freely, restoring their powers and healing their wounds. Eventually the art of summoning these Djinn was discovered, as well as the means to bind them to contracts with the summoner.

There are sub categories of Djinn -

Foliots: Lesser Djinn, rarely used for combat or defensive purposes. Users of the Arts tend to employ them to do household chores such as running the bath or cleaning.

Djinn: The main category, considered the most diverse and easily the most resourceful or intelligent. They are beings of fire and air and possess minor shape shifting abilities, though the eyes of a Djinn never change. Contracted fairly often by medium to high ranking users of the Arts though very few are contracted full time, normally being called upon only for battle or espionage.

Afrits: Large, winged Djinn cloaked in infernal flames. They are more powerful than Djinn but lack much of the intellect possessed by their smaller cousins. Commonly used by powerful mages as guards, though only in small numbers given the difficulty in controlling even one.

Marids: Strongest of the Djinn but also the hardest to control. These hulking behemoths of Arcanic power hold sway over the oceans and water. They are even more dim witted than the Afrits, possessing an almost animalistic personality. They are rarely if ever summoned as the exact method to safely do so is all but secret.

All Djinn are weaken by the following (harmed by any with + after): Silver+, Rosemary, Iron, various religious herbs and incense.

Anything Else?: Being an entity of fire and air, Ignis is not harmed by much in the way of conventional weaponry, only being harmed by silver weaponry or bullets. Earth and water however, are both dangerous to him, earth severely weakening him and water being capable of almost killing him.

Full Name: Caltra Gearwise

Age: 26

Gender: Female

Family: Daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Gearwise, sister to Daniel Gearwise. Father and brother both renowned engineers and inventors, having built the Gearwise name into society. All of the Gearwise family reside in Gearwise estate.

Appearance: Height: 5'5"

Backstory: Caltra Gearwise is daughter to the famous inventor Samuel Gearwise, a man who revolutionized the process of creating clockwork mechanisms and made mass production of such materials possible. Gearwise Grindery, the guild founded by Samuel Gearwise, is known to accept military contracts from any and all, and is one of if not the largest provider of gears, cogs and clockwork.

Caltra was raised in a home buzzing and clinking with such items and yet found her interests resting in the Arts, her brother instead seeking the comfort provided by winding machinery and metal. Caltra found the art of summoning in particular to be most interesting, having had visions of entire cities run on the powers of summoned entities alone. Her peers were less than impressed with the idea, scoffing at the notion.

Caltra however was adamant that a summoned being could be of as much use, if not greater, than any human work force. As such she went about a three year quest to discover the perfect test subject to prove her point. After this time, having honed her summoning skills to such a point that she was near useless in all other fields of the Arts, Caltra found what she had been looking for, the name and summoning methods to bring forth and ancient Djinn known as Ignis.

Ignis has, thus far, proved to be a success, showing that with proper control a summoned being could be made to complete tasks that would require small armies of workers to complete. He has yet to fail in a task and his rather relaxed and talkative cooperative attitude has led to Caltra keeping him close on hand at all times, his counsel being held in high regard by her.

Caltra herself is a rather stubborn young woman who is not one to take 'no' as an answer. She has proven herself time and time again to be gifted in the Arts, though at the moment she is severely lacking in offensive or defensive skills in that field. She enjoys Ignis' company, going so far as to allow him to accompany her to meetings with other users of the Arts.

Not a morning person. Enjoys bacon. Dislikes snow. Loves the rain (much to Ignis' dismay as he is forced to accompany her wherever she goes.)

Guild: Gearwise Grindery.

Family: He knows nothing of his blood line but his adopted father, Lord Robbin of the Guild of Narrows at loxley. Was a great and honest man. He ruled fairly anf justly. His father and his father before him lead the guild, all the way back tothe year 620 A.H when one of his ancestors grouped together hunters from across the land and formed the guild

Backstory:Damon was a mere boy when the lord of the Guild of Loxley took him under their wing, they saw promise in the orphaned child and, after a long chase they braught Damon back to the guild, to bring up as one of their own.

After many long years, the lord passed away. In his will he gave the guild and its riches to Damon Farrow of Loxley, to whom he gave his title, power and privileges. Damon wept, for he was his only family, though not through blood. Damon emerged from his chamber after three days of mourning and went to the king, set himself on one knee and pledged alegence to the realm, when the king promted him 'and to king' he said "i will follow a king if he follows the people but if he goes agenst those vows then I would find him an enemy" the King nodded gravely.

Without a word Damon traveled back to Loxley and ruled the guild of narrows with a gentle but firm hand, hearing of the monsters, he asked all the member of the Guild to pledge their arrows and their blood. Many men did do so, forsaking their lives in Loxley, their friends and family to protect the wall. Damon himself traveled with them, they made him laugh and after they were gone he nearly cried.

Damon, after many years of joy, followed by many of sorrow, finnaly rose as man. He looked at the world in a new light. He saw all the suffering and all teh joy and he saw the dangers looming on the horizon.

Guild: Guild of Loxley

Anything Else? He is an orphan, never met his mother but was lawfully
accepted and made a member of the House of Loxley, which he now rules.

Guild of Narrows
The Guild of Narrows is the Guild of loxley, it has the greatest archers known. They have heard of 'guns' but they can shoot faster and more accuratly. They learn from a young age and never stop. Because of their great archers one of their main exports is meat. Naturally taken from the forests so as not to effect the Eco-system to seriously.
