Scariest Moment in Games?
I want to know, what was the scariest moment in any game for you?
Mine would be this:
I was playing FNAF2, and it was 4 A.M., and I was winding up the music box, night 2, and when I put that camera down, I was killed by Toy Bonny.
EDIT: DO NOT POST THINGS THAT HAPPENED OUTSIDE OF GAMES!

he probably had a large save game that took a very long time to reach everything that he had and then it got corrupted.

SCP - Containment Breach. First meeting with SCP-106. (For those who have played it, I mean when he drags the running man down into the floor)

Dragon age inquistion. Walked arround and suddenly a huge freaking fireball hit me and I realized a dragon was flying arround.

When over 50% of scary games are jumpscares, their scary quality turns into garbage

I have a new scary moment.
Toy Freddy was in my room, I put on the mask and thought I put it on too late, when he disappeared, I took the mask off, wound up the music box, and when I put my camera down, Foxy got me.
That HORRIFIED me.

Mine was with the original FEAR game, when they still relied on atmosphere more than gore and guns. It was always the parts where I would turn around in a dark area after a firefight and unexpectedly see a dark, corpse-like figure standing in an inconspicuous area like a doorway or something, and when the lights would flicker, it'd be gone. It was 2spooky4me :L

I was playing FNAF2 at like 1:00PM (WORST TIME TO PLAY IT) and I had half battery left on the game so a was checking the cams when suddenly I saw that foxy 2.0 (this was night 2) was getting real close to where I was so I put on the mask and waited and waited AND waited when she went a way I put down the mask and let my guard down but suddenly the puppet got me. I stayed up till like 5:00PM I even got a wind up box from my bros room and keep playing it ALL NIGHT now I think we can have a good laugh about it (BTW in FNAF2 you play a windup box so the puppet stays asleep)

Yeah, I know. God, FNAF2 is hard...

Why is it bad to play FNAF2 during day?

Atmospheric horror is Amnesia: The Dark Descent. While it has lots of jump scares, most of the time there is just this fog of dread that permeates the game. The most disturbing part of the game for me was in the flooded corridor section, where there's the invisible monster that you have to distract by throwing rotted body parts into the water for it to devour and then you have to wind a crank. The whole time you're winding the crank you know you're going to run out of time and it's going to get you, but you know that in order to proceed you have to stay there and keep winding it. Then, once you finish ANOTHER ONE bursts through the door behind the portcullis and you have to run back, knowing the other one is behind you. Definitely the scariest moment for me in any game.

The scariest game ever must be Five Night's At Freddy's.. Until Five Night's At Freddy's 2. But my scariest experience in a game must be from FNAF, the first. I was trying 20/20/20/20 aka Nightmare Mode. I closed left door cause of Foxy running and saw Freddy in camera 4b, so I closed right door. And as I think Foxy is gone and I open the left door, what you think happen next? Bonne comes? No! F***ing Freddy comes even though right door is closed. That was maybe the scariest moment in my life ever, in a game.

was this Freddy,by any chance, golden and limp?

Did the game crash, by any chance?

I was playing Outlast with a friend in my basement, in the dark. The only light sources were my laptop screen and my phone's crappy flashlight. We were taking turns playing, and it was my turn, and I was playing such an intense moment in the game, that I didn't notice my friend get up and wander off. A few minutes after he did so, I noticed he was missing. I called out, but he didn't answer. I took the flashlight instead of turning on the lights and eliminating the possibility of my friend giving me a heart attack, being the dummy I am, and went to look for him. Since I hadn't paused the game, it's ambient music was still playing. In my basement, there are a set of curtains that are there to hide the mess of Christmas ornaments and etc. behind them. In the dark, the curtains looked like something in a horror movie. I walked towards them slowly, and extending my arm out, I quickly pulled them aside. There was nothing there. I turned around to see my friend rushing at me with an old Scream mask from Halloween. I nearly had a heart attack.
The end yey

But I said IN games, not in real life...
Like, maybe a jump scare in FNAF2.
Or, atmospheric eeriness.
I'm gonna edit the main post to make it relevant.

I was playing a game of Five Nights at Freddy's, and I was so confident that I'd make it to 6 am, but Bonnie got into the room when I didn't know it, and when I pulled my camera down, I get a nice greeting.
That's the first time I've ever screamed in a horror game; usually I just jump.

Ah yes, the first time you encounter the draugr. Even though I kind of expected it with all those tombs, I still was shocked when they stood up.

I was playing a horror game online at 3 am during the summer, one of the characters looked like my brother that then walked in like a few minutes later and surprised me...

Sounds fun...

He but he JUMP SCARED me...
:/

You just have to get used to it, bro.

FNAF is scary, but it's not on the level of SCP Containment Breach. Weeping Angels: The Game is horrifying.
But that's not the scariest moment. It was actually in BioShock when you had to fight the Big Daddy for the first time. It was incredibly difficult, and you just got this 'Oh god, I'm going to die' feeling when he charged at you.
Jump scares can't compare to atmospheric eeriness.

Hmmmmmmmmm, you sure? I don't think I've ever had atmospheric eeriness before...

You need to play some better games, then.
Silent Hill offers a really scary atmosphere, and Amnesia: The Dark Descent also makes you scared when nothing happens.
