Planet Minecraft

I run a minecraft server but I'm still pretty new to the game and everything. So please bare with me if this is a dumb question, but I just can't seem to find a plain black and white answer about it....

If I were to use this Map mod - http://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/zans-minimap/ - does that work when I'm on my server in multiplayer? If so, does it apply to everyone? Or just me?

What's the difference between a server mod vs a regular mod? I'm just slightly confused.

Can someone please explain? I really appreciate the help!

Okay, all mods in single player won't work in multiplayer. There's a service called Bukkit, which allows you to have plugins on your server. To set up a Bukkit server, go here:

Find a tutorial on YouTube to find out how to get plugins.

The minimap will work on servers, but everyone isnt going to see it. If you have a server and wants everyone to see it, check out bukkit (bukkit.org). A server mod is visible to everyone on the server and the owner of server have to install the servermods in the server folder. Bukkit make that process much easier, but with Bukkit it often isnt the same mods (that with Bukkit is called plugins). Hope it helps!
