All moderator rulings are final. If you believe that a moderator has ruled against you incorrectly, please send a polite PM to the moderator who removed it. If you are rude or use profanity towards the moderators, your request will be ignored, regardless of its correctness and you will receive a temporary or even permanent ban at the moderators' discretion. Moderators are human beings and can make mistakes, however flaming them breaks many of the other rules on this list and will not be tolerated. If you can prove that the action taken was in error, we will gladly reverse the decision if possible. For either removed submissions or site bans, first appeal to the moderator who removed the submission or banned via a PM, or a different moderator if you suspect abuse.
Discussing anywhere on the site about how the moderators are abusive because you're angry with a moderation made against you is not acceptable. Your messages will be deleted and you will receive a temporary ban.
PlanetMinecraft is a community website. The exact definition that we are using for this site is "A group sharing a common understanding and often the same language, manners, tradition and law". Many of these are covered individually below. Posts, submissions or content which is created to split/separate the community, or flames the community, will be deleted and subject to banning at moderators' discretion. If you are joining this site, you are expected to work together with others, not work against them.
Leave the moderating to the actual moderators. DO NOT attempt to "put another poster in his/her place", and do not quote their post. Even if you're in the right, we prefer instead that you use the appropriate Report links (for Submissions, red flag in far bottom-right; for forums, Report button at top-right of post; for chat, red flag to right of their message) if you feel that someone is breaking the rules or if something needs the attention of a Moderator.
If your post was edited by a moderator, DO NOT re-edit out the moderator's changes. If your topic is moved, merged or deleted, DO NOT re-post it in the same or another (sub)forum.
If you have any questions about the way the site is run or feel the need to argue a moderator's decision or a board rule or policy, please PM the moderator instead of addressing it publicly.
For your safety, we recommend to all members that you should never post personally identifiable information such as your full name or address online. Full names and addresses will be removed. You may request or post your first name, age and external contact (Skype, MSN, email, etc.) information, however it is recommended to keep it to private messages.
Flaming is a mean-spirited cheap shot at another member or a member's post. Personal attacks on someone just because of a disagreement with their point of view will not be tolerated.
Responding to a flame is JUST as bad as having flamed someone yourself. All this accomplishes is increasing the workload for the moderator who has to clean it up. If you believe someone is "flaming", report them to a moderator.
Blacklists (lists of users with an aim to get them banned from other servers) are not allowed on this site and will be deleted.
It is unacceptable to judge, condemn, or otherwise vilify or make fun of anyone that is not like you. If you can't make a point without degrading someone else, you are not welcome here. All members must refrain from making comments that could ordinarily be construed as sexist, homophobic, ethnocentric, racist, or significantly demeaning any individual or group on the basis of disability, age, political inclinations or religion. What is construed as demeaning or hateful is up to the ultimate discretion of the moderators.
A prank is all fun and games but they can be seriously annoying and we do not think highly of those who trick users into visiting prank sites, if a user tricks others into visiting a prank site that is impossible to close then they will receive a short ban and the post deleted. However, if the site is known or found to infect visitors, the user will receive a permanent ban. We have zero tolerance for viruses.
If a user posts a prank site that has repetitive flashing, the user will be permanently banned due to this being extremely dangerous to users suffering of epilepsy.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Griefing groups.
- Hacking groups.
- Groups which aim to promote racism, sexism, violence etc.
- Groups aiming to gain money through illegitimate methods (see 6.)
This is not allowed on this site due to the potential legal action and/or the possibility of scamming. Any posts that sell/distribute or promote the selling/distributing of a product will be deleted.
The use of the PlanetMinecraft to obtain free advertising or to promote other websites is not permitted. This includes, but is not limited to, posting referral links to other websites. Posting is for non-commercial purposes only and you may not post in any manner which does or is intended to promote or generate revenue for a business enterprise, or commercial activity. This includes, but is not limited to, individuals selling items he/she made for more than the cost of parts and/or actual shipping charges, or posting through link shortening services such as AdFly. AdFly links may be used only when linking to original downloadable content created by yourself.
Content posted that is not your actual work will be deleted and the user will be issued with a warning. Quality work and proper credit is important to our community. Only upload original content that you created. Otherwise, consider inviting the author to share their own work. Guidelines for reporting content are here, but remember to include proof - e.g. a link to the original.
Posting AdfLy or other revenue-generating links to content which you did not created will result in an instant ban. We have no tolerance for this behavior. To avoid any issues, we recommend you do not use these link shorteners, even if they are to links you do not gain the revenue for, unless you made the content.
For those looking to report a submission: please note that "stolen content" only involves actual content, not the idea of the content. You should not report content whose ideas exist, as ideas don't count as content in most cases. There will always be thousands of Batman skins - reporting other Batman skins because they stole your idea is not proper behavior.
You are completely free to promote your work on PlanetMinecraft - however, you may not spam your submissions.
On Site, you are not allowed to post duplicates of your submissions, or blogs simply pointing back to other submissions. See Submission Guidelines for more details on this one. You may not advertise your work in the comments of other peoples' submissions.
On Forums, you are not allowed to spam the forums with posts of your submission. Users found doing this will have these posts deleted and the submission in question deleted.
On Chat, please keep promotions 15 minutes apart, and do not room-hop to advertise as much as possible. You will receive an infraction for spam-promoting. Multiple links count as multiple advertisements, meaning that one message with 2 self-promote links is breaking the 15 minute rule.
Absolutely no promoting of your works can be done in the LiveTV room. It is meant to be used to watch streams, not to self-promote.
Do not bribe, force or otherwise coerce other users into diamonding/favouriting/commenting on your submissions:

Spam can be described as this: the posting of advertisements, abusive, or unneeded messages. You may think it only applies to junk mail or ads, but it also applies to the unnecessary posts that don't contribute any useful information to a topic. Moderators can (and do) delete any topics or posts that are considered spam. Do not post any referral links to other websites or commercial ventures, as this is also considered spam.
Posting just to raise your post count will not be tolerated in any form. Your post count is just a number, NOT a status symbol. If you think you will get more respect having more posts, you are mistaken. If an Admin or Moderator deems you are abusing your account in this manner, your post count can be zeroed. Other such activity includes, but is not limited to: posting messages back to back that could have been easily in 1 post or when you have innocuous conversations back and forth with minimal post material or content or even minimal word content for that matter. Please use the Private Message (PM) system or the chat room for such conversations.
A troll is a person who intentionally tries to cause disruption, most often in the form of posting inflammatory, off-topic, or otherwise inappropriate messages. No posts obviously designed to attract flames or otherwise incite other posters to react negatively and aggressively will be tolerated.
TALKING IN ALL CAPS online indicates that you are shouting. It's a very aggressive way to post and it doesn't come off as being very friendly. Moderators, at their discretion, can edit or delete any topics or posts that use ALL CAPS.
PlanetMinecraft is an English community. While we are an eclectic site, public discussions should only be held in English. Non-English discussion will be counted as spam under this rule. While we encourage you to participate, please use a translator or have a friend help you translate your text.
Each person is just as entitled to their opinion as you are your own. So, after posting your opinion, they are just as entitled to post their own. Try not to take it personally and don't respond to them to contradict them or to further explain your ideas. If you need to clarify your argument, then edit your initial post to provide more information. Don't waste space by repeating yourself. You aren't going to change anyone's mind. Just let it go.
And for those who have an opposite opinion to the one initially posted, don't direct your comments AT the original poster. Just post your opinion, without referring to the original post or poster, and let it stand on its own merit.
Absolutely no profanity, nudity, or explicit sexual references are allowed on this board. All content must be PG-13. In addition, do not post links to adult content on other sites. Not everyone wants to read foul or off-color language, and those who do not should not have to be subjected to it. This includes, but is not limited to, attempts to circumvent word censors or any other form of word ma5k1ng.

The various portions of PlanetMinecraft are split into categories to aid people find what they need. For this reason, we will actively encourage and help you find the right place to post your content. We would rather, however, that you post them in the correct place to begin with instead of assuming we will do it for you.
On the Site, please read the Submission Guidelines to find what sort of content should go where.
On the Forums, scan the categories and find the best place for your post. General discussion areas are not a place to dump all of your posts if there are places that better suit them.
On the Chat, there are various rooms dedicated to certain subjects. While we allow general discussion of any appropriate subject in the Lobby, all server-related discussion must be done in the Server Hall.
Please do not start more than one topic with the same question or message. Starting multiple topics with the same question or message is confusing, splits up the discussion and makes a moderator's job harder. Please resist all temptation to cross post. Moderators will lock, merge or delete duplicate threads as soon as they are reported or found.
Similar to SPAM-PROMOTING, on the Site you are not allowed to post duplicates of your submissions or new blogs simply pointing back to other submissions. See Submission Guidelines for more details on this one.
The dimensions and file size limits given should be more than adequate for most members, and has been put in place so the members who still rely on a dial-up connection are not forced to turn off some or all images in order to read/participate in the community.
The Private Messaging (PM) systems are used by members of the site to send a communication between two people. These messages are by nature and name, private. They are not to be published without the consent of all parties involved, whether they be moderators or not. This includes both the forum Private Message system and the chat's Whisper system. Anybody publishing private messages will be given a ban.
If someone sends you a PM that violates the rules or in any way makes you feel uncomfortable, please notify a moderator immediately.
We do not allow double aliases or "sock puppets" on this board. Please, only one account per user. If you wish to modify your display name, see this thread. Users caught with multiple accounts may be suspended or banned.
To avoid multiple posts on the same topic, either do a search or look beyond the first page of posts. Posts that are discussing the same subject may be closed or merged and will be marked as merged. Please note that some merged topics may have a changed title to reflect the topic better.
Bolding, underlining or italics should be kept to as little as possible and should be used when trying to emphasize something, or for prettifying large posts. Large fonts should be used for emphasis only. Please do not use large fonts (font size 4+) to write an entire post.
Excessive use of punctuation is not encouraged! Thread titles and posts may be edited to remove extraneous punctuation.
Bumping a thread means to post an innocuous reply to a thread in order to "bump" it to the top of the thread listing. Excessive bumping will not be tolerated. Bump a thread only once per 24 hours. Do not bump threads which haven't been posted on in excess of a month as often times the question will have been answered or the issue resolved by that point, this is considered necro-bumping and may result in a warning.
Excessively large quotes may be removed by a moderator. If you are responding to a specific portion of someones post, please edit the quote to include only that particular portion.
