So a couple days ago, for some reason, I got on Minecraft and my skin didn't appear to be working. I asked some other players on the server and they could all see my skin. I've tried changing my skin and restarting Minecraft, but I still show up as Steve to myself. Is there was reason for this or a way I can fix it?

The reason why this happens is because every now and then Mojangs servers have problems and when they do they can mix skins up between players (happens rarely) and your client might not be able to connect to their servers probably and you will show up as Steve.

I am so weird, but you are very correct there. I think Mojang is starting to get ahead of theirselves, and updating as fast as they can and only fixing certain bugs that make the gameplay how you say... unfair.

It's just a bug after 1.7.8
Servers need a special plugin to fix the skins, other wise, everyone except yourself appears to be steve.

For me, other way around.
I show up as Steve and everyone shows up in their regular skins. Except the ones who haven't changed their skins from Steve...

I've been having the issue as well, I'm pretty sure it's to do with the fact that I'm using Optifine 1.7.9 on a 1.7.10 server.

Also, whenever I enter singleplayer my skin shows up (after I change in on Minecraft.net) but when I enter a server, I'm a stupid ugly Steve.

This happened to me on one of the servers I play on, but it eventually went away. For now, just be ugly :c

It happens to me too, as long as i'm in 1.7.9. In all other versions (besides ones that are newer than 1.7.9) it works fine.

This happens in 1.7.9 when you enter a portal. I believe it will fix itself if you join back in in 1.7.5.

Same with me. For example, when I go onto the Hive and I'm in spawn, my skin shows up. But then when I enter a lobby I'm a stinkin' Steve ಠ_ಠ
And in the rest the servers I go on, I'm Steve.

1.7.10 does have some irritating bugs.... like when you try to get on a server and it says ERROR: INVALID SESSION (try restarting your game).

What Version Are You On? Becuz Its A 1.7.10 Glitch If You Are On 1.7.10 Switch To 1.7.9

Happening to me aswell, sometimes I'm steve, sometimes I'm my usual skin... hmm

I have this same thing... Usually if there is something in my inventory and I can't see my hand, it will load up. But I just fixed the problem by going back to 1.7.2 and using optifine.

Blame Mojang, there's nothing you can do to fix it yourself I think. You'll have to be patient.
