I created my local Spigot 1.8 server with only one plugin, Essentials. I get on my game and join the server, and my settings for things like chat format and custom join/leave messages weren't doing anything. I was thinking, "What the heck?" and I tried commands like /ac, /ec, /gmc, and /gamemode creative, and in the game, nothing happened. No texts, no effects, no nothing, and looked in the console, and for all of the commands I used, it said:

[20:47:47 INFO]: bhuss05 issued server command: /ThisIsTheCommandThatIUsed

So I tried /gamemode c bhuss05 in the console, and it did nothing at all. This happened with the other commands, so if this doesn't get fixed, I can never properly release my server, Bomb Town, unless anyone has any better ideas. Please help!
