Steam adding TAX on games?
So yeah what do you think about this? I am from Serbia and when I red we will get 20% taxes on games from Steam from April I was in shock. Why? Am I missing something that has happened in US to make this change?

I thought the price shown was just the cost but that they were adding tax to it, I didn't know it was already there.

I've had to pay tax on my games and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. The way I think of it, I'm just giving a bit more for the system to stay up so that I can continue to play them.

Separate from the main price, I haven't heard of it.

already get taxxed for games in the UK, you pay the base price plus VAT (Which i think right now is 20%), but steam list games final prices in the UK with added VAT so you dont really think of it

Actually there is no mention that they SHOUDNT be taxed. Many countries have so called "digital goods" tax with is placed on the customer. And digital video games do fall into the category. In EU that rate is based on the basic rate which where I live is 20%.
If your in US then I believe only 18 states don't have digital goods tax. But as I said. Tax on the all kind of games is not new and really is expected.

This. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the US Steam store has had tax on paid-for games for a while now, I believe.

I cant speak for US steam, as Im in UK and we have tax on steam and other console stores. But I know if all of US has tax on steam or just the ones with the digital good tax.
Most of the time its forgotten about as its counted to the price. So you don't see "price + tax/vat"

Digital games aren't supposed to have tax, and all taxes apply to physical things not digital things. So they shouldn't add a tax to something unless it was bought in the physical form.

You already pay for vat/tax boxed games, so I see no surprise here.
