Testfor if someone is holding item i certain inventory slot.

So I'm trying to test if someone has a stick in thier 1st inventory slot (0) with this command /testfor @a {Inventory:[{Slot:0,id:"minecraft:stick"}]} but the comparator doesn't light up when I have a stick in my inventory. What is wrong with the command

the error I get when I carry the stick in the slot is

I think it might be an unnecessary set of brackets around the tags, but I'm not certain.
