I have searched your forums..as helpful as they have been (Nice to meet you all...I'm new here) I could not find the answer to my problem..

I have been trying to rune Sphax 512x512 texture pack (I think that is what it's called)..my computer will run it fine-ish at 60 fps for 2 minutes..after that, the FPS drops down ridiculously low to around 5 FPS..

I am running optifine and have allocated 4gb of RAM to Minecraft. I tried adding a screenshot but forum wouldnt let me. The debug screen shows the frame rendering box expanding up the screen with fps spikes all over the place..

Specs: GTX 570
Intel i5 2500k
8gb RAM

Why is this happening even though it shouldnt be? My computer should be able to run this just fine!

That just means that your computer just can't handle the texture pack....

For anyone else that sees this try optifine smooth with smooth fps enabled.
