I just got Blender and I want to start making animations with it. Anyone got tips on how I should start out?

Yeah, probably go with Blender then lol
No offence taken - I use it more for renders than animation anyway.

Well, I looked at Mine-imator, and reviewing the footage, it just seems kinda... slow. Don't get me wrong. Some amazing stuff has come out of Mine-imator, it's just not as fluid as I would want it to be. I wouldn't really have all the facial expressions and range of movement I have in Blender. Also, Minecraft is only the first of many (I hope) of my animations, and I will be expanding into broader territory. I will probably be doing spoofs for the Warhammer 40k universe, some short action films, and probably a 3-D anime series.

You could also try Mine-imator, it's built specifically for Minecraft animation, but probably isn't as broad as Blender - though there are hundreds of rigs on the Mineimator website.

But Blender would do the same things, if not more. As for Blender
VMComix has a whole "mini-series" for working with Blender.

Thanks a ton! This really helped get me in the right direction towards animating.

oh, boy. there is a lot involved in animating in blender. Though minecraft animations are a good place to start because of minecraft characters' simplistic design. I would start by making a Steve model and then learning how to add textures to him. After that you'll need to rig up a skeleton with him and learn about animating in blender. all this stuff can be found on youtube as there are a lot of people who make blender tutorials. here are a few of my favorite channels:
