We have a small offline mode community server that was private for a long time. Then we decided to open it to the public after upgrading to 1.8 last year. It is a primarily survival server with a creative world, hardcore world and some pvp based capture the flag and mobarena minigames. We use Towny for land protection. We have a dynamic changing economy and customized ladder based mcmmo. Apart from this we have more than 100 other plugins subtly enhancing gameplay and adding many many things like new recipes etc to the game. We have updated to 1.9.4 recently and the server has expanded hugely in terms of content and polish.
The server owner is obsessive about server efficiency and the server runs smoothly and lag free. The many plugins are heavily customized and modified to integrate smoothly with the rest of the server components. The server is hosted in Europe as a sort of central point and so has a widely varied player base from all over the world from Asia to the Americas.

1) Mature and helpful community. We have many players around the age of 20. This is not just a server. This is a community. We are all friends. We help each other. Are you looking for aggressive faction raiding? This is NOT the server for you.
2) MCMMO! And not just the usual unbalanced mcmmo. We have a themed RPG style ladder system of mcmmo. As a Peasant of the realm, you can only choose a profession that befits your rank. Be a farmer, or a woodcutter or a miner. Work and rank up to Squire! And then choose a combat skill to train! Rank up to a Knight or a Lord of the realm and unlock all skills!

AZELCRAFTMC is a Multifaceted 1.9.2 server with customised RPG ladder style mcMMo professions, talkative NPCs, a fine-tuned balanced economy that changes to reflect server trends and many gameplay enhancing, realistic physics and various new logical crafting plugins. Background:
AzelcraftMC was born from the vision of a few minecraft obsessed players who started a server when their favourite server went down. We decided that we wanted a server that focused on the needs of the players. We are against the pay to win philosophy that many servers follow. We wanted a server who's primary focus is making the game fun for everyone. We want to make a new generation of players relive the magic that we felt when we first played Minecraft. We focus all our resources on maintaining a fun server with zero lag and maximum uptime. We have a highly responsive admin system that resolves bugs and issues almost instantaneously.
We are a small server now that was private for many months and has recently opened to the public. Our goal is not to get many players. We want to build a wonderful community of friendly players who enjoy playing Minecraft together. We aim to create a positive gaming environment that players of all kinds will enjoy. And so far we have been very successful with our community. It makes us very happy when every player of ours soon starts talking about "Our server".
We have coded many plugins ourselves that have been customised to our server with the single objective of making gameplay on AzelcraftMC as interesting as we can, while maintaining the simplistic beauty of minecraft and its subjective realism. We do not clutter our perfectly optimised server with useless plugin clutter.
Our handpicked staff are all responsible, courteous and mature individuals who have invested large amounts of their time to the server and know that their job is not to rule the server and enforce rules mindlessly. The job of staff is to care for the needs of the players. We also do not tolerate ANY hackers or those who cheat at Minecraft and make our server less fun for other players.

I'm going to start by saying I haven't been around this server for a while, some 6 months, and just came back after a long break from MC. And unfortunately, when I was around then, this server was always secondary to my main servers that I had more pressing responsibilities on (co-owner and admin, respectively).
But damn, this was a good secondary server, and I came back and found it better than those 6 months ago. Makes me wish I spent more time here than on the other servers that all died under two months after creation.
Seriously. It's a good community with a server that actually stands out. It's not just another factions server; it actually has flavor beyond slapping a few little plugins that are now used with many servers on.
-It uses Towny, a less known plugin that's an advanced version of factions, to simplify it. There was a time I didn't like the plugin, but frankly, it's good. Worth learning and getting into.
-The owner is super active. And he does a lot by himself without relying on other staff. He's one server owner that I legitimately respect and consider very fit for the job. In a server world where owners aren't on very often, shove the work to staff members without doing more than hosting, where owners just quit after a couple months, act like dirtbags, or are completely unprofessional, Azfaloth doesn't fit any of those categories. That means something... to me, anyways.
-As mentioned up top, yes, it's a good community. There's maturity that can sometimes be rare to come by, so if you're looking for a mature server... this is one.
-I believe this server is around a year old now. It's small, but it's polished and considering it is still here after this long a period of time, it is here to stay.
The sheer effort I see when I wander in the server, from builds in the creative world to the spawn itself to the fluidity of commands and functions... well, all I can say is that's something that shouldn't be taken for granted. That's added on top of an owner that I can't really point out any flaws with and a community that from what I've seen is a dedicated core that's willing to accept folks in.
Unfortunately, I haven't spent enough time here and even now am involved with building projects on 3 other servers. But as someone with experience on all ends of the server spectrum, I say if you like the idea of creating an empire of your own, appreciate well designed servers and want a small but quality community, you should join this.
In case anyone is wondering based on what I admit looks a bit like gushing above, no, I'm not getting diamonds/any sort of rank/any sort of compensation at all for posting this. No, I'm not a staff member. I'm just a player who's hard to impress that has been impressed for once.

That is wonderful. We keep our community small intentionally because we have seen that sudden influxes of new players adversely effect the close knit community we are trying to maintain. We have a reasonable number of talented builders who would welcome you. Spend some time on the server and see if you like it. Hopefully you will become an integral part of our community and make many new friends.

This is exactly what I have been looking for, Im tired of Faction and Minigame servers where you don't know more than 2 - 3 players. I Started playing in Beta minecraft and back in those days we had servers with little plugins and a small community. I am a talented builder and an expirienced minecraft player. I would like to join.

This server really is amazing.
I have been playing here for 3 months now and it never gets boring. There is so much stuff to do. The community is the best I have seen in a server ever and it gets quite competitive, in being the richest or highest skilled in a mcmmo skill.

I am a fairly new player and I completely agree to what you described in point 1. Even though I'm only a part of this community for about a month, it feels like I've been there for years. You really see groups of people forming and becoming close friends. Another great part of the community that you didn't describe is our(yes i did say our) Plug.dj server channel. In which we see a lot of diffrent music genres and find new music. This way there isn't just the hissing creepers or bone breaking skeletons in the background, but some actual music that you may find yourself a new fan of.
Please come and join, it is very stable and offered me a great experience so far.
