This is just a web browser that I threw together quickly to test things out and see what I can do with it. Please note that this requires Java 8.

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/pmh1aqbug29xigh/Browser_1.3.1.jar

You should just be able to download and double click. I suggest opening it up in max window since some things won't be displayed.

Please leave feedback and suggestions

A "copy" as in, like, well, a copy of Java 9. You joined Early Access, so you get a development build of JDK9. So, yeah, you got a Early Access copy.

Looks like pretty interesting stuff. I wouldn't join, though; I'm comfortable with 8 for now. 8 IS pretty new, anyways.

Debugging is always appreciated. But usually hard when you're messing with something as dynamic as a web browser.

I just looked it up. It ain't coming out anytime soon...
But snapshots are apparently already around, though.
How did Prototype get a copy, I wonder?

BTW, how's progress going, OP?

The browser doesn't store any files currently, but in future updates it will.

Note that when you download Java 8, you can't load FML 1.8 anymore

You can also go insane and keep Java 7 and try to run it manually with Minecraft. But that'd pose a security risk (well, okay, not that much anymore compared to keeping things like Java 1.1 around). And would be annoying to do.

What error does it give?

@OP Don't make Incognito mode, but instead, make it so that it prompts if you want to clear browser history or cookies whenever you try to quit. I have Dolphin Browser on my Android systems, and I love that feature. I've never seen it in any other browser, and it's incredibly convenient. You can choose when or not to keep your history and cookies, and you'll never forget since it stops you every time you click the Close button. Bringing this feature to the desktop would be immensely useful, and will bring something a bit unique. Feel free to not do this, tho. Keep updating :3

It is most likely because your security preferences only allow you to download applications from the Mac app store. Or you're not using java 8

- COOKIES! I think there should be some sort of cookie system cache thing. So every time you open the browser, you don't login again and again.
- Maybe support for multiple languages? (That could be cool)
- Incognito mode? Where it doesn't save history or cache stuff.
- Zooming in and out..

Not even 1 minute in I found a bug. You need to remove www. before the name of a website because some are not published to the World Wide Web and therefore only need http://. If it is published then this will not affect the functionality of it whatsoever.

Also: Get rid of Https and put just regular old http.

Edit: Your scroll-bar also needs to be a bit quicker. Try increasing the scroll rate a bit more.

Thank you for your criticism.

Maybe have a favourites list.

Also, have settings where you can set what page the browser pre-loads when opening the program.

Be able to download files.

The browser is new ^.^ He can only do so much during his time. I'm sure he'll add support for other platforms later on once he's comfortable with what he's got.

You should also add some sort of system for people to make plugins and stuff. (Once you get a comfortable build and stuff).. I think that'd be pretty cool.

Should the history show up in a completely new dialog or sneak up on the right or left side of the browser in a list?

Also I am still looking for new icons since the ones I have now are ugly.

Bump.

If you have installed a multiple-window/tab system, make it follow that. I love Chrome's history system where it opens in a new tab, and it works fine. I find that other browsers' (with attempts at organizing into a side panel) very buggy and strange in pattern. They're almost useless at times.

If not, just make it open in a new dialog. Please don't put it on a side panel. PLEASE.

Sorry, I can't take up the job on icons.

I am looking for somebody to create new icons for the back, next, refresh, and search buttons, and a settings button as well.

All icons have to be 48 x 48, and I would prefer that the background be either transparent with a black foreground or black with a white foreground.

If you are up for the job let me know.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions!

Super cool. I once tried to make a web browser... But it turned out to look so ugly (Not so good at styling things).

Also, the thingy where it adds https:// automatically.. Yeah, annoying imo. There are some sites who don't have an ssl ^.^

But other than that, looks great!

Looks pretty nice! I'm not to familiar with how browsers work but the scrolling speed seems kind of slow, is this the browser or the website that's making it do this?

Also in the next update could you add more options and also some form of history?

Interesting! I thought you integrated some built-in thing (You can integrate Internet Explorer fairly easily into many C# programs, for example, and I figured Java would be similar), but I noticed that the tooltip was custom.

Is this completely from scratch? If so, it's very impressive. Absolutely love the UI style.

It can't seem to watch Youtube videos, presumably because it doesn't support Flash. But I ran some HTML5 tests, and this seems like a pretty solid browser for that.

What do you plan to do with it for now?

My suggestions would be to give it a name and an icon. Multi-window support would be nice too (Multi-tab wouldn't be very necessary if you have that). Also, note that the URL address bar doesn't change whenever you go to a new page. Intentional?
