Well. By combination windows 7 and 8.. Windows 10.. has come out... so that just easier.. just get windows 10 if that help? I'm not sure.. I have a windows 8.. but I ain't updated to windows 8.1 yet
1
Update to 8.1 and wait for 10 to come out. It's still in beta, so you don't really want to use it on your main machine just yet.
1
Your best bet for best performance would be Windows 7 more than 8 or 8.1 mainly because they use more memory from the Tiles. If you use Windows 7 and switch to best performance in the performance options it will run with a lot less memory and get more fps than 8 or 8.1. Plus I've been seeing Windows 7 Pro being sold some where for like $20 (Don't remember where though). And yes even though Mainstream support for Windows 7 is gone but that is hardly a little deal. It just means it won't be sold on PCs and a lot of stores any more and still get its monthly updates for another 5 more years.
1
8.1 doesn't use more memory? Show your sources please, because that is false. 8.1 is better for gaming than any other OS right now.
And 7's mainstream support is gone, which means only security updates, and that's it. They won't sell it anymore, they won't have normal support (You'll have to pay them if something messes up) and such.

Just because mainstream support is gone doesn't mean it's just security updates, I've seen regular Windows 7 updates in my Windows update. Changing Windows 7 Aero theme to Classic theme will decrease Memory usage and GPU load making it faster than 8, 8.1, and 10 as they're more like Windows 7's basic theme with more customization. Classic theme has been around for 20 years and is optimized for older computers and is a lot faster and more efficient with newer hardware. Windows 8 and 10 does use more memory though it's really noticeable with lower amount of physical RAM because of constant updates of the tiles in the start screen and Windows doesn't really trash garbage loaded in the memory too well as well.
1
Nothing major like extra features, only bug fixes, and security updates. Mostly security updates, because the bugs would have been worked out by then.
And while that's true, 8.1 has the same thing, which uses less ram than 7's classic theme.
And thats not exactly true, Windows itself may use more when it's running by itself (it's designed to use as much as possible) but with programs, it uses less than 7 and below.
Windows 8.1 is the best on the market right now, at least until Windows 10 comes out, and that could be a dud as well.

Steam still supports windows 7 so yeah

Cool!

It's funny when people say "I got a gaming laptop!"
1
What's funny about it?

Cool? Yeah, I only play A3L when I'm on ARMAIII and when I play A3L my frames were drop dead horrid on elder processors. Sweet story though
Why are you snipping everything everyone says? Are you expecting people who read it to go back up and read? Pff, no. This is 2015, furry. Youre being stubborn and not admitting you are wrong. Sweet story though
No, but seriously. everything you said about ARMA III is false. Shad wasn't proving your point, so I lost you there. ARMA III doesn't take an i7, you can run it with a Pentium, and that may even be better then an i5. It is based on single core performance, and mid-lowend-ish GPU power
Do yo research, man.

Thanks for proving my point
So according to the both of us, ARMA III does require a good processor to run.

Look at the single-threaded performance. Yes, that $57 Pentium will play ARMA III better than the i5 that costs more than triple the price.
GG.

Ah, you're one of those guys. Always thinking you're right, never doing any wrong, even when others prove you wrong. Have fun with that mentality.

You said i7, which is false. ArmA relies on single core performance, so in all honesty, any newish Intel CPU would be better than any AMD CPU.
Ex: A Pentium would beat a high end AMD CPU, only because ArmA's engine is from early 2000's, and they are too lazy to update. Battlefield on the other hand takes advantage of multiple cores on a CPU, so a AMD cpu would be better in theory.
1
Mainly AMD is the Generation of Gaming! than Icore
1
No. Intel will beat AMD in literally EVERY aspect.

I got a normal work Windows 8 pc.. and it easy.. but it not much for gaming.. etc.. coz i got loads of coursework.. that why i want to build a gaming pc for extras.. plus i don't lag on minecraft with this normal pc xD.. but i will with other games

windows 8.1 but make sure:
you have a good processor. link to mine:
and a good grapics card are key, if you plan on downloading alot of games get a large harddrive too.

You don't really need an i7 4790K to run games on high/ultra settings. An i3 will be fine (and even a Pentium).

My point

Dude, no i7 needed. What is needed is a second-gen i5 or better and a halfway decent GPU to run the game optimally:
1
While I agree with the most of your reply, Arma won't really require an i7. An i3 and a 750ti would be totally fine.

Windows OS: Widely used, stable and fast. Developers are smart as fudge. Mainly used in businesses.
Mac OS X: Good looking, stable, maybe not as good as Windows. Developers are rich as fudge. Mainly used by students.
Linux OS: It's free and good to use, it's developers are the community. It can be useful if you know how to use it right. Mainly used by programmers/designers.
In short, none of them are for gaming.
Windows however is your best bet.
Windows 8.1 is faster and performs better than 8 and/or 7.
Windows 7 is still good and it has an easier to navigate through system.
However, once you sit down and give Windows 8 a go, it's great!
Go for Win8.1, you'll get Win10 for free either way.

Linux is a great platform, Ubuntu is my favourite.
I mean, it's free, your data is more protected but the bad thing is that, most of programs/games don't support it, so no, Linux not good for gaming

Get either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1(Whatever is cheapest) then wait for Windows 10; it will be free for owners of Windows 7 or Windows 8.
1
I'd get W10 but you can get W8 and then upgrade to W10 later...
W7 is and will always be my favourite but it's not very good and optimised for gaming anymore so if you don't have a top tier gaming pc, not worth getting it.

R-Crafters16or has Intel core got a faster internet speed
1
I don't get the different.. i think AMD is mainly for game streaming.. but hasn't got good rendering? or has Intel core got a faster internet speed plus fast rendering and gaming?
1
The internet speed doesn't depend on the CPU at all. It totally depends on your ISP and your internet subscription.
1
You can get Windows 8.1 pro for free, legally.
All you have to do, is join the dreamspark program, you have to prove you are a student, and bam free programs.

Do not go with linux if you want to game. Yes, some games will work but I do not recommend going with it.
Unless you want to play with Wine, but you might end up intoxicated, and you shouldn't mess with OS settings while you're drunk.
1
Windows 8.1 all the way!
Windows 7 Mainstream support was dropped this year, and Windows 8.1 is better optimized for gaming than 8 and 7.

You can't just go there and say "Ubuntu". Give arguments on why Ubuntu is better, so your statement is supported.
1
*Insert arguments as to why*
k.
But seriously, just get Windows 7. It's fast, stable and supports a lot of games.
