A site called minecraft.exe has taken my mod and put it under an adf.ly link (or you can tweet it to get the other non-adf.ly link).
http://www.minecraftexe.com/better-weaponry-mod/ and the download links:
http://www.minecraftexe.com/downloader/ ... ponry-mod/
Now I've seen #StopModReposts on the mc forums and now it really hits close to home. I wrote some legal stuff in my description, it was my first time doing that... is it good? Does what I wrote here: http://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/bett ... ult-rifle/
Mean that I am right in saying they shouldn't do that?
This is annoying as hell.

AdyxiaThey seem to have a Facebook page;
https://www.facebook.com/minecraftexe/
is it maybe worth trying to contact them via that?
If not I'd probably go with the website host :/
*Edit*Any Mods you create for the Game from scratch belong to you (including pre-run Mods and in-memory Mods) and you can do whatever you want with them, as long as you don't sell them for money / try to make money from them and so long as you don't distribute Modded Versions of the Game.

I don't know if they're technically breaking the MC EULA by using AdFly (I'm not familiar enough with it to know if that's counted as actually profiting from it, but then again I don't see why it wouldn't count).
If it does, then that would be further evidence to get them to remove it.
I've seen the facebook page, but unfortunately I don't have a facebook.

FistoF_caJust pointing out-- he has credited you.KazukiNagariThe thing is, they reposted your work and are making profit to it. They are making money from your work without giving credit.
They're making profit with the adversing, not the contest itself.
But the whole reason people are being exposed to the advertisements is because of the content.

I have not recieved a response.
What do I do now? Do I file a 'cease and desist' order, or do I contact the hosters of the website to take it down? Or adf.ly?

This happened to me, not much you can do, depending on what license you have on your creation.

_caJust pointing out-- he has credited you.
crediting something doesnt give you immunity to how the original user wants to distribute his work, it seems people nowadays thinks it does
its liek putting a movie on youtube but tis ok because i credited the people who amde it
thats not how the world works
sites like minecraft.exe take mods from other people and use them to generate money though things like adfly and other such money making tools, this emans they are generating profit from work that doesnt belong to them which is ilegal

Just pointing out-- he has credited you.
"Better Weaponry Mod is a very interesting mod that has just published and it’s made by that2guy."
I still do see your reason to be angry however I don't know if he's breaking a rule if he credited you. Again, I have no clue and I'm probably wrong.

If they still dont want to do anything, you can just contact the hosting company directly, and ask them to take down the website due to copyright claim. Did that once, it was fun

Have you tried contacting those who put it up? Because they are making money off your work, and I believe (I'm not expert) that doing that is illegal.

Long story short, they stole your work. Now going back to your question because I'm preetty sure you can answer it now.
Here this may help

You can just ask them or something?
