Cursed, are the necromancers, for their very touch may taint the very threads of life they collide with.

Windows 8 was terrible for PC users, as it was designed around touch displays and tablets. Windows 8.1 fixes this, and that's why I use 8.1.

You stated that like it's a fact, which it's not, it's not even an opinion... It's the best OS to date for gaming...
You're also stating an opinion as if it were a fact.
But...
It is a fact...
Guess I was being too critical.
He said that Windows 8 is "the best OS to date for gaming..." which isn't true.
Windows 8.1 however, is.
Yes, this is just me being me. You either love it or you hate it.

Being perfectly honest, if you use an OS for basic things like watching netflix or sending an occasional e-mail, there is no difference. Now if you don't want to be boring, then the subtle differences between Mac/PC, Android/iOS, etc becomes real. From my experience, W8.1 has been the least operation operating system because it lacks the beautifully executed backwards compatibility of Win7 (its there, just not as beautiful) and has crashed and frozen the most out of any other OS I've played with. I was even prompted with a popup that told me to rename "C:\Programs" to "C:\Programs1"

Laptop is not a Operating System Because Laptop is a hardware based PC but portable. Operating System is a system which our use. Example : Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows XP, Mac OS X, Linux, Linux Garuda, etc
Read what he's quoting. Happy wasn't saying a laptop is an operating system.

I think the best would be Windows 98, it was revolutionary

all operating systems are equally good and bad, although i am a window 7 fanboy it is not an amazing operating system and it isnt a bad operating system, each operating system is different and tailors its needs for the user (ok vista was really bad buuut...)

My favourite operating systems would be Android and Mac (I used to like IOS but android has won me other).

Windows 8 SUCKED! It was so slow and never worked correctly from the day I bought it. It's a piece of crap! Good thing I got a new laptop.

Why do I hate Windows 8? It's Windows 1.0 mixed in with Windows 7. When we get to Windows 10 we have caught up with 2000. It seems like Windows Vista, 7, and 8 were mostly side projects. XP being the first good OS that Microsoft ever created, there was 2000 and that's good too but it looks like 9.x so it's not that much of an improvement. Vista and 7 are basically XP with different themes and then the only way you're ever going to get a "gamer" to upgrade is to prevent the latest version of DirectX to run on older operating systems. I'm only telling it like it is.
Just look at the logos for comparisons.

No one else saw this? And there's people that pay for these rehashes. Instead of redoing interfaces they need to come up with better features with new releases and not let DirectX be the main one. Come out with one version with all the features and more people will buy it. Most people aren't going to pay $500 for everything. You make more money making it cheaper. Business sense 101 guys. Windows 10's features are a mix of what MacOSX and Linux based distros has had for the last 10 years. Windows 10 "may be" the OS that hits 2000 for Microsoft (which XP already was). They can't call it Windows 9 because of 9.x confusion so instead of redoing the entire Windows 95+ line after redoing the the Windows 1.0 line, we are officially moving to 2000. Although.....IE did get released in 1995 and Spartan is part of their 95 rehash, according to my theory of course. Congratulations Microsoft, hope it wasn't too rushed.
I don't even think they know that they are following this trend.

Windows 2000 ME edition. No competition, whatsoever.
1
I actually tried Windows ME the past few days for the first time. Would you hate me if I said that I actually like it? Well it's no masterpiece but it's like if Windows 2000 met Windows 98.I like 98 and 98SE but ME feels like it improves upon the concept. I don't care for the System Restore and the other stuff we have that are bad ideas (if they are bad they came from ME). But looking aside from these features, ME is actually pretty good. It's like I said, it's just 2000 meets 98.
1
ME was given a lot of hate because it was very buggy.
1
Windows Vista without a doubt.
1
I have to agree with what Killertoad said, Windows 8 gets too much hate. Windows have been stuck in the past for too long and one time they try and move forward everybody says it's awful. I bought a new laptop that came with 8.1 and i was not sure what to expect after reading reviews, but I have to say that it is actually really good; it's fast and has a very nice layout, especially the live tiles in the start, and if you don't like them then you can make it change to the old start bar
1
Personally, I've never used Windows 8 myself, but my cousin has it and it honestly doesn't appeal to me at all.
Going with iOS though >.<

All depends on what you like, or what function your using it for.
For example Linux is a command line, useful for many things but confusing to some people.

Sorry for the advice animal, but...

I happen to be old enough to remember using Windows 95... dear lord that crashed a lot.
A lot of us nowadays complain about the bad user interfaces that are designed for things, but a lot of younger people probably have no idea what a pain in the ass the constant crashes and other bugs caused.
Also, Windows ME. Enough said.

Never used ME, got 2000, and stayed with it for a good while, then got XP I think in 05, then got 7, then 8/8.1.
I also have disks from 95+, keys and everything.

UGH WINDOWS VISTA SUCKED
1
I read this best at first .-. Anyways, Windows 8 obviously.
1
Why do you think that? Just want to know why everyone hates 8/8.1. A lot of it is uneducated blind hate, which isn't right.
1
window's attempt at combining the phone/tablet/pc world wasn't exactly a success, plainly because a tablet with full screen apps doesn't equal a desktop, however windows 10 will probably solve this.
anyhow the OS itself isn't that bad.
anyhow the OS itself isn't that bad.
1
No, it didn't get the support they wanted, I think it was a good idea, but most people don't like change. Windows 10 will do the same thing, just in a better way. Imo, Windows 10 looks way more different than Windows 8 does compared to 7. 10 has no borders, and all this other ugly crap.
1
Mac sucks, Windows are best!
1
Well, you can just sort this by kernel. Either Windows, and everything else which is Linux.

Windows 8.1 works better on older PCs than Windows Vista, it was designed to have less of a memory footprint which means it uses less system resources, it has native support for ISO files, has a better backup system, it starts up much faster than Windows 7, it has a UEFI utility (I'm not sure if it can be called a BIOS...), the non-Pro version supports MUCH more RAM natively than the non-Pro version of Windows 7, and it has support for DirectX 11.1, which is better than what Windows 7 has. There are quite a few other differences as well, but it really strikes me personally that Microsoft has turned around their thinking with Windows 8/8.1, and although Windows 8 was a little too forward-thinking, I wouldn't be surprised to see Windows 10 with a "touchscreen" or "tablet" edition as well as a standard edition - the idea being that the "touchscreen" edition would focus a lot more on the Metro UI or something similar, while the standard edition would have reduced focus on that aspect of Windows. All the same, I use Windows 8.1 as a daily driver and I used Windows 8(.0) for a time as well, and in neither of them have I been forced to use the Metro UI for anything more than changing the look of how Metro looks - ease my eyes, you see.
Windows 8.1 is just a much-improved version of Windows 7, and unfortunately just suffers from all the fallout that came with the launch of Windows 8(.0).
^^ pretty much.
Mario3785Why does everyone hate Windows 8? I think it's better than Windows 7.
Bandwagon hate.

Windows M.E., enough said.
M.E. = Mistake Edition, or as I like to call it:
Windows MFE (Multiple Fatal Exceptions, a refrence to the BSoDs that plagued it.)
