It createsPC Master Race jerks who think that they are superior to everyone.
1
Yes, but there's also the Console Master Race jerks who think they are superior to everyone. There's the PS Master Race peeps, the Xbox Master Race doods, and the very silent Wii U Master Race guys. Ee tee cee, ee tee cee. Of course, the PC Master Race peeps are more vocal here on the PC. But there are bigots everywhere.

I is b3st PC gam3r in teh wurld. fer me. nub.#reKT

Long version:
No games (mostly) are released in physical form. I don't know about most of you guys about physical copies, but I love actually owning teh items. Also, I don't embrace digital distribution because I love holding on to actual copies of games. I get that installing from discs take longer (I performed what I call an "installation marathon" where I install a game and all expansions from their discs, took 2 hours from start to finish), but using the Internet to download files takes longer (especially if it's a huge game, and it might just be me because my parents don't want to upgrade our FiOS router atm, it's wireless G, ancient I know, but my PC doesn't do gigabit or wireless AC.), but installing takes no time afterwards. Aside from that, the worst thing about Steam would be the idea that EA took from it, Origin. Yes, I use Origin, but it s**ks badly. It's like a demon coming out of the place pictured below:
TL,DR version:
In essence, the biggest thing wrong with Valve/Steam was the creation of Origin.

I have no complaints. I wish that they would improve customer support, it sucks, they got an F from the BBB because of it. They have a lot of money, would be nice to see them improve customer support.

Never had to contact Steam Support personally. They don't have very many staff, so I can sort of understand confusions like sending a German response to an English ticket. It's totally possible a bilingual person was handling reports and had a ton to do or maybe another ticket they were answering in German and accidentally sent the German response to the wrong person.
I understand the cut they take from games listed on their site as it's a very effective form of advertising for other developers. They get a ton of publicity for using Steam and at the end of the day, Steam is a for-profit organization. They're not running into the ground because no one wants to list their game there due to the cut they want to take for listing it, so they must be doing something right.
I don't really blame anyone for this, but sometimes the prices on Steam are too high for me. I've mainly seen this happen with bigger-name games or studios that know they can get away with a higher price-point for their game, but one of the main reasons I switched to PC was that games are generally cheaper. You can usually find games on other sites for cheaper, but then you run the risk of accidentally getting a game key for another region and getting your account banned.

Pls it ain't that hard just wait for the summer sales it's like 80% off on everything my local ebgames is full with neckbeards at that time of the year looking to buy steam gift cards for themselves lol.
1
They haven't updated the console version of TF2 since it's release which was like 7 or 8 years ago.
That means no hats, weapons and no airblast. And there's only one voice command which is MEDIC! and the Spy backstabs waaay slower. It's a pain.

That's what you get for being a console peasant, lol jk but I just had to say that .
Anyways, it's probably because Valve doesn't care much about consoles. Very focused on the PC platform.

karrthus1WTFshadykarrthus1how much money they take from the purchase of a game
Steam offers really good sales and packs. It's your fault if you spend a lot on games.
that's not what i mean,
when you buy a game on steam a certain % of that money goes to valve, and a certain % goes to the game developer, steam takes the biggest % of the money, which is wrong
The companies know this when they put it on the Steam platform, it's not a huge amount like you think, rumor says that the most was around 40% and that was with a indie developer. I assume most bigger ones have a 10-20% payout, which isn't a whole lot when you have to consider that it's cheaper to pay that, and let Steam host all the stuff, instead of making CD's and hosting your own servers to do patches, and such.
1
Mainly their support service. Also games cost more in Canada now. Thanks Obama.
1
I think that they're great, on the whole. I'm actually leading a development team at the minute, and we plan on releasing our title to Steam in a few months from now, so my final verdict on them will likely depend on their sales commission (although I hear that it's pretty good ). I have had a couple of bad run-ins with Valve while using Steam in the past though (just about their Ts&Cs/DDA).

To pay for a game then have to pay for the internet credit to download it
1
Internet credit? Is your internet run by an internet cafe company or something? Or do you literally have to pay for everything you download... like "you must pay 1$ to reach this website"
They have been going in the wrong direction lately.. for example: region locking the games, overly securing trading... (captcha, email confirmation AND wait period? overkill.)
There might be other things that I cant remember at the moment.

I only just got unlimited internet a few weeks ago but before that I had a wifi thing that I had to pay $50 for 3gb.So I used to buy my games from the shop and then come home to find out it needs a 10gb download from steam.
1
INTERNET CREDIT?!?!?!
What is this madness?!
What is this madness?!
1
That I cant buy games if I am on vacation and no support cant enable some "magical" option so you can buy from somewhere else other than your home country..
1
Totally legit..

Are you serious? Are you sure it wasn't pirates (not pirates as in the ones that ride in ships but, you know )?

steam terrible support i sent in a ticket in english they give me a german response

^This, Steam has the worst, and I mean the absolute worst customer support. Origin is miles ahead of them.
1
Okay, I refuse to believe this. It took Origin 3 months to get me a game I pre-ordered (PvZ: Garden Warfare, which I had no other choice). I will NEVER buy a game from them again.
1
Never had to use Steam support. Origin locked my account for "coin farming" on FIFA 15, a game which I don't even own. It took 10+ hours to get ahold of them. And when I did it was a bot. SRSLY! How long does it take to have a BOT message to you...
1
It's all digital distribution. I don't know about you all, but I prefer buying my PC (and console) games on disc, so that I actually own the box and manual and all that. With Steam, you don't get that stuff, and it makes me feel like a pirate (not in a good way, either).
Alright, maybe once in a while, like maybe once a year or so, I might buy a game digitally, but it isn't often.
