I'm using an i3 3220, building a new PC soon with an AMD FX 8320.

Why don't you save a little money and throw in a Ivy Bridge i5? Then you wouldn't need a new motherboard, and a Ivy Bridge i5 is more than enough for every game ever made.

BlueCosmoLpswheatBlueCosmoDepending on what you're referring to, my server is currently running an Intel Xeon E7-4870 v2, but I plan on upgrading to an Intel Xeon E7-8890 v2. In case you're wondering what this is being ran on it's an IBM x3950 X6 System.
On my normal desktop I'm running on an Intel i7-4940MX processor.
I don't believe you.
1.) It is more than likely that you do not own a $10,000 processor, very unlikely.
2.) You mean a laptop for the 4940MX right?
3.) I would assume that you would not have over $100,000 in servers, and if so what?
I do own this, as I said. It specifically says what type of server I'm using, hence:IBM x3950 X6 System.
And I did mean laptop, not desktop, sorry. It's an Alienware 18 that the processor is being ran on.
Pic's or it didn't happen

How on Earth did you manage to put an enthusiast-grade laptop CPU into a desktop computer?
Oh wait, you didn't because you're lying.

i7 4770, but no discrete GPU. But hey, the only games I play work fine with the integrated graphics (100 fps on max settings in MC).

i3 4350 or something, my friends spend $1000+ on computers with i5's/i7's, but the i3 still does the job with 3.5 ghz!

AMD A10-7850k. Don't ask why, but I have an EVGA GTX 660 and the APU graphics disabled.
One day I will probably get a new, better CPU, of course, when AMD releases one for FM2+ sockets.

Desktop: i3 4150 @ 3.5GHz, dual-core, HD 4400 graphics. Runs fine for 98% of things I throw at it. Doesn't work when I use a fork bomb or Core Temp on it, though Core Temp might just have a bug that causes it to lock up on me (and force me to cold reboot) and the fork bomb is due to my stupidity.
"Ol' Unreliable" aka my Compaq laptop: AMD C50 @ JUST ONE GIGAHERTZ. JUST ONE. Also it's dual-core and has integrated Radeon 6250 which is just TERRIBLE. AMD C50s are so bad, even a Celeron is better. They are also so bad, you can't even run Firefox, IE, Chrome, Not even MS Office or LibreOffice on it! FPS would be in the single digits, in the teens on a nice day, and "lag free" servers were often laggy as s---.
"Defective Battery" aka my eMachines netbook: Intel Atom (forgot which one) @ 1.6GHz, single-core (kinda unusual for a 2009 netbook), integrated graphics I believe, and it couldn't handle much more than light gaming on it. It never even got hot, unlike the C50. Couldn't try to get a good fps on Minecraft due to it being 32 bit (not even the cpu itself is 64 bit capable, which stinks for '09)
