When did you start playing minecraft?
I started playing Minecraft in 2013! Leave a reply if interested! Sub question: If beta, how do you compare it to the 1.8 version?

I think I started playing at around 2010-2011. I'm not 100% sure, and I'm too lazy to go check lmao

June, 2011 according to my mojang account.
I played even more on a free version I remember it quite well. Everythign was really cool before the Adventure Update. After that Minecraft became this magical-fantasy game with dragons. Its even worse with the new 1,9 update coming out with dual wielding and cooldowns.
Minecraft was great, it went downhill.

Half an year before 1.6.2 (NOT beta). So I am pretty new, but before I STARTED playing Minecraft, I had like 2 years of Minecraft youtube watching, so when I came in Minecraft I was a professional already I also play Xbox 360 edition, but I never remember the names of the updates in that version xD
*EDIT
I am lying. I first played the demo version of Xbox 360 and it was so chunky I hated it. Lol now I am a big fan. That origins do xD

January 2013. Used my brother's account for playing for about six months.

I bought the game on the 26th September, 2010, somewhere around Alpha V1.1.2_01.
I built a home on top of a mountain but got tired of keep going up and down said mountain for resources, so built stairs.
Instead of building on the outside of the mountain though, the stairs it actually went into the mountain from the top. The stairs became so long I nicknamed them the "Stairway - to HELL." I vaguely remember coming out the side of the mountain (Still very high up) and having to try and decide what to do next. I think I double-backed and went back into the mountain in the opposite direction from the end of the first set of stairs. (I think..)

1.4.5 update, that was the best update ever, my first house was made from snow and pumpkins.

I started like two years ago, during those old days of 1.5 *sigh* when you could break a block with your sword in creative...
I wasn't playing in beta, but I must say, I enjoy 1.8 a lot more than the old graphics, blocks, and launchers.

May 2015 was when I started playing.

Summer 2010 was the first time I ever played Minecraft.. Used to play with my friends account (I was clueless at the time), then I eventually bought the game July 2011.

Some time back in 2012, version 1.0.0.

I started playing Minecraft on Pocket Edition during the 0.8.0 update.
I remember when I put a cake on a crafting table and I rage quit for a week because there was a zombie in my amazing dirt house because I didn't know I needed torches.

Someday in 2011, i remember because I started to build a base in a village but villagers werent in the game yet. They then all spawned in one room of my base when I updated and so I couldnt cope with that area because the villagers kept breeding and the frames were dead, over a thousand villagers were living in one room blocked off with an iron door.

OMG LOL NOTCH IS TROLLING YOU I SAW NOTCH SAY HE DID THAT TO SOME ONE BY AN AXXIDENT LOL ON TWITTER

2013, some time at the end of the year.

When 1.7 came out.

Started playing Minecraft in 1.9 Pre Release(2011), sounds really weird but I miss being a noob. It was so fun to discover new things but now I know pretty much everything, anyone else feel the same?

April 2011, beta 1.5_01. This was my first world, and I thought it was FANTASTIC.
1
Beta 1.8.1, october 2011. My friend had showed it to me, so I assume he had played a later version.
I hadnt updated ever and my first was to 1.5.1, then to 1.7.4.
Imagine having beta and then skipping a whole bunch of updates. :O

Oh, and by the way, I really miss the ooh! sound. It was so funny...

At least pocket edition still has it...
1
DD9448And don't forget the player hurt sound.
And the door sound.
I started playing in Beta 1.4, before they added weather.

May 26, 2011. 1.6.3 Beta... Oh, how terrible I was at the game back then. Compared to 1.8... It was better. A lot better. That's why I still play it to this day. The simplicity... It was so simple! And those good old graphics... And don't forget the player hurt sound.

since indev came out! my brother bought it in june right before the infdev phase went out, and he graciously shared. i've had my own account since beta**, jan 3 2011, but since i was a child with no money at the time i had always maybe pirated minecraft. oh man the memories come flooding back. i remember the mods i used to play.. they're all dead now :/ kodaichizero made some pretty nice mods, i remember that, as well as risugami's stuff and of course, mo' creatures. i miss those times, when mod installations were a lot more simpler :/

i got minecraft when it first came out in the pre versions, lets just say i remember when they added trees, it has defiantly come a loooonnnggg way.

The first time I had actually ever EXPERIENCED Minecraft was when I played that gosh-awful Lite version of Minecraft Pocket Edition back in 2012.... I thought it was awesome, then I finally got REAL Minecraft on my PC and somehow it took 15 minutes before I finally figured out how to place a block.
Now I have MCPE, and it's WAAAAAY better than the PC version in my opinion... better movement controls, you can still mod it, and the best part is that I can play on local servers! (Let me explain. When I was playing MC on my computer, I didn't have access to my Firewall, which meant I couldn't allow ANY IPs through it. Firewalls are used to keep unknown IPs away so they can't hack into the router. THAT'S why, if you were completely clueless of what I was saying.)

June 2011, Beta 1.6
My favorite version was Beta 1.7.3 (came out in July 2011, I think?)
Compared to full release 1.8, it feels like a completely different game. So many things have changed or been added, that it's almost impossible to compare. I love the new features, but the atmosphere and feel of the game back in the day was a lot better, in my opinion. I like beta 1.7 and current Minecraft both, but for different reasons. 1.7 is more fun for survival and community Minecraft, whereas 1.8 is a lot better for things like minigames.

im not actually sure if i posted here yet but i joined just at the end of 1.6.6 and had like 3 days or less to playin it then it updated to 1.7 when pistons/cave finding pushy things were added lol and i liked minecraft before andesite and diorite and granite were added or they should add recipes for stone tools with those and i dont like the rabbits either its better without them and i liked old sounds better (i have the res pack for them and id rather use mocreatures for horses and stuff but i am alright with emeralds and before bta old sounds make me actually do survival like stuff lol and used a piston to find a cave)
Edit: i hate 1.8 having to type command_block when i can type 137 to get it faster so mojang screwed up that logic and that i think theres 1 reason to like 1.8 is a useful "door" glitch (turning a block into a door not explaining so its not patched lol)

I've played the demo and full version of pocket edition back when it was in like alpha 0.2.0 or something like that I can't remember but I didn't start playing the PC version until Full Release 1.6.
