Why Do Griefers/Griefers teams like to destroy things

many people may think griefers like to do it for fun. but why? do they use hacked clients to grief too? i was a faction owner and a day or so they greafed my faction. so my faction was completely destroyed by a griefer team(i can't remember the name of them) we built all of the buildings in survival. it was so sad it was greafed and destroyed. please tell me why/how they do it so i avoid this in the future

I'll admit that I was one of the old-time griefers who fed on the pain and sadness of the people whom I griefed.
Then, one day, I finally created a server. It was cracked (because my brother had not bought the game at the time), and I had no anti-grief plugins. So one day, someone logged in from a cracked client with my name, opped himself, and destroyed the entire server, which had taken me and my friends many hours to build. Since there was no creative at the time, there was almost no way to fix it, so I had to reset the entire map.
From then on, I never joined a faction/griefing server ever again.

I've delt with a lot of griefing in the past on various servers, whether it be my own or others I play on...
In my experience, people just do it for fun and to anger others, and almost all people in the griefing community are bound to use hacked clients to make it easier.
I honestly feel that the griefing and hacking communities are what make this game horrible sometimes. The other percent of the time, it's amazing.

yes it feels fun but now i have a own server and know i how it feels.
so now i don't grief on any server any more.
more griefers should try to make a server and try to prevent griefers, they will see how hard it is!

A lot of server owners grief other servers to boost theirs. Had lots of this back in my Minecraft days.

I just think its funny and I like to hear peoples reaction. If they are nice I like to see them freak out

I don't know what to tell you, man. People who do it do it because they think it's funny, and get enjoyment out of it. And they don't care how much work was put into the builds, they don't feel sorry at all.

griefing is fun for the person who doing it. but sad for people that worked very hard doing it especially in survival. but why they do it? The griefing team came back to the server and griefed more of the server today D: im very sad about this if you want to see the destuction goto mc.trintymc.co in your minecraft client(im not advertising just trying to do a example of the effects of griefing)

Its a Faction server if they greifed your spawn its a diffrent story.
Best way to try to help you is basically by avoiding untrustworthy people. Also did you download any "Custom" plugins from someone or download anything over skype. Download any plugins off of Bukkit or like Spigot?

They like to make people mad and feed on other peoples rage.

That is how it used to be, but now it is mostly 8 year olds doing it, because they think it will make them cool.

Although it may sound childish, its a lot like how bullies work. They want to feel better about themselves and sometimes that is done by harming other people's property. Sometimes people also get mad at people and find it a form of revenge.
